After running herself ridiculously ragged since September, Kitty was taking the summer off from teaching. And she had just over a month left before the Xavier School went on whatever passed for summer break there, but senioritis was setting in there. Sooo, Kitty was bored, and therefore scribbling party ideas on a napkin.

"Are you writing a novel?" Tamsin asked conversationally, sinking into a seat at the bar.

"Party planning," she said, looking up. "It's been what, a month? And we have new people coming in next week, so might as well."

"Party planning's not that hard," Tamsin said. "Just make sure there's booze, the rest works itself out pretty naturally." Beat. "Or maybe that's just when I throw parties."

Where she made everyone bring their own booze and then made out with half the room.

"That is one of the options," Kitty said, turning the napkin around to show her. "But sometimes a theme's fun."

"'Yay, there are slightly less smelly teenagers on the island than last week or next week'?" Tamsin offered. "Drag out whatever school supplies they left behind, then set them on fire. That kind of thing."

Tamsin shrugged. "Just brainstorming," she said. "It's probably still too cold to have a bonfire on the beach anyway."

"Yeah. Memorial Day is really more of a burning-things-in-a-bonfire holiday anyway," Kitty said.

"So less fire, more..." She squinted at the list. "Karaoke? Only if you stock all the good booze. If we're doing that, I want to see every testosterone-fueled idiot on the island weeping drunkenly into a microphone."

She was a peach.

"I'm thinking of having a money prize, plus specials to get people up there," Kitty said. "I figure the combo might work."

Éponine was also bored, and feeling a bit sociable today.

"Have you got any ideas for something amusing to do?" she asked, practically flinging herself down onto a stool.

"Yes, help me come up with party ideas," Kitty said immediately.

"What sort of party?" Éponine asked, with a brief laugh. "How fast you were to answer that! Good lord, you must be as bored as I am."

"I'm down a job this summer, I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself," Kitty said. "I'm not sure what kind of party yet. That's the part I'm trying to figure out."

"Down one, hmm? And that's how many you're left with now?" teased Éponine. "And here you are, trying to find ways to keep busy. What party, though?"

She tapped a finger against her chin and idly swiveled back and forth on the stool.

"There's the question, isn't it? S'pose that depends on how much trouble you want to go to. Where would this party be?"

"Two jobs still." Technically three. "And I'm thinking the party might be here because Tamsin's trying to talk me into karaoke."

There's no stealth if you tell people, Kitty.

"Good enough," Éponine said. "And you're less likely to have someone knock over an expensive trinket or some such here than if you had people over to your place. Besides, there'll be plenty to drink, and that'll be good for getting people to sing."

She paused.

"And making it sound better to everyone else, besides."

"Clint and I don't have much in the way of expensive trinkets," Kitty smiled. "I just haven't talked to him about having it at the house. But the drinking and the fact that the karaoke stuff is already here is a definite plus."

"Will you make Tino help with the party?" Éponine asked. "It wouldn't do for you to not be able to enjoy it yourself. I'll help too, for that matter."

"I usually have him tend bar while I play hostess," Kitty said. "If you want to help, though, I'd never turn that down."
