Outside Apartment #2, MCA, Sunday Evening
'Furnished apartment,' McIntosh and Nelson had said. 'Lease is already arranged,' they'd said. 'You just have to pick up the key,' they'd said. Brian had just assumed the apartment would suck. All of that might be true, but the contact info they'd given him (for a guy named Coulson, though the lease had someone else's signature on it) had gotten Brian a 'New phone, who dis?' and ringing the bell in the lobby and even banging on the door to the manager's apartment had gotten him exactly nowhere.
And while Brian had some money tucked back, he hadn't brought any of it to the island with him, not with the FBI watching him so closely, and with his apartment already arranged they probably wouldn't be amused if he expensed a hotel. So he'd spent his first night here in his car.
Faced with the prospect of doing the same tonight, he'd decided to take matters into his own hands. Juvenile delinquency and his adult profession (okay, and also delinquency) gave one certain skills, after all. Which was to say, anyone who happened to find themselves on the second floor of MCA right about now would find Brian attempting to pick the lock of what was allegedly already his own apartment.
"Sometimes," he muttered to himself as the stupid lock failed to cooperate, "I really wish I'd gotten in that car with Dom."
((OOC: For the neighbor, but open to anyone else who wants to bust Brian! But please don't assist him: Brian will not be gaining access to his apartment at this time. Mwahaha))

So, when someone was trying--and failing--to break in next door. Well.
He cleared his throat, waiting for the guy to notice him. And no. No, he hadn't removed the armor yet. Because paranoid.

At least Wash hadn't grabbed his gun for this?

Doubting you.

"Because that's a common mistake," Wash replied dryly. "I can see how you'd run into that problem a lot."

"Do you have an ID on you?"

Like the state.

"See, Brian--" and then he thought to actually look at the driver's license he'd pulled out of his pocket before handing it over. "Ah, no, not that one..."
no subject
"Another misspelling?" Wash asked, tilting his head at the name on this ID.

"Uh huh.'

"That's...yeah, it's a...joke," Brian said, lamely, because it was a lot of things but it was definitely not a joke. "This is the real one." See? Brian O'Conner, of late of Miami, Florida.

"Why am I doubting the validity of this?"

And he would never put a headless corpse in his car, excuse you, Agent Washington.

"And the fake is to buy alcohol?"

"I have time."
All he had planned for the night was booby-trapping his place. Like a perfectly sane person would.

So you're not sleeping with your victims, serial killer Spilner.

He was not a serial killer!

"...did you need a few dollars?"

"You know there's no shame in asking for help." Okay, now he was just being a jerk about this.

Also, he was an asshole.
"We'll see."
