Movie Sign Theater- Thursday evening

There was a new Space Battles movie, and Kitty was a big ol' nerd. Of course she was lining up for it. Sure, the odds were good that it hadn't sold out here, and when you knew everyone it didn't matter as much where you sat, but it was about the experience.

[Open! Line up for the movie! Happy Star Wars!]

Kitty wasn't the only one lining up early. She was soon joined by Hardison, dressed like a certain whiny farmhand (but, you know, from the later movies, after he'd gotten cool and started dressing in black) and carrying a replica laser sword. "'Sup!" he said, sporting a giant grin. "I've been waitin' for folks to start linin' up. Didn't wanna, y'know, seem to eager."

Said the guy cosplaying and carrying a sword he'd build himself.

"Oh my god, you look amazing," Kitty laughed, immediately going for her phone.

"Thanks, yo!" Hardison said, immediately posing. He thumbed the button on the hilt of the sword and the embedded LEDs started lighting up, starting from the bottom and racing upwards, rather than all turning on at once. Because it was more authentic that way. "I already got tickets," he confessed, "but there's somethin' about standin' in line with the other fans, you know?"

He might have camped out overnight if certain people hadn't protested.

Kitty got the picture, and decided to keep the phone out, just in case. "I hear you. My weekend's been hooked since October. But there's the atmosphere."

"Thank you!" Hardison said, waving his free hand about. "Thank you. You get it! What, are we just s'posed walk in five minutes before the previews start like this is a regular movie?"

He sounded appalled at the very idea.

YOU UNDERSTOOD HER, HARDISON.

"It's the biggest everything in history," Kitty said. "You do not buy your ticket on the way in. You sit around two months before as Fandango crashes and you're happy about it."

Eliot on the other hand, wandered by with no idea what they were doing.

". . . the hell're you standin' around for?"

Forgive him, he'd been a jock in high school.

That question was just going to get Kitty "ba ba ba ba"ing the theme song.

Yeah, because that helped.

"You two weren't bit by gremlins, were you?"

Kitty looked insulted. "it's Space Battles Day," she explained.

". . . That's a holiday, now?"

He may have spent the last several months tuning Hardison out when he went on one of his Space Battles geek spirals.

How was this his boyfriend? How?!

Clearly he was being tested. Grievously, grievously tested. "God an' all the baby angels in heaven, gimme patience," he beseeched, rolling his eyes skyward. "Dammit, Eliot, I've only been talkin' 'bout this since, what? October?"

Right! So he had lots of practice blocking him out!

"Wait, this that thing with the CGI alien Parker likes?"

Okay, now he was being deliberately obtuse.

Well, he was going to have to play a little bit longer while Hardison sputtered incoherently, gesturing at Kitty as if to say, Do you see what I have to deal with?!

"THE ONLY--SHE DON'T--YOU JUST--WE ONLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE MUPPET!"

Atton wandered past, on his way to the--

... Okay.

He stared at the small cluster of people hovering outside the movie theater, at least one of whom was dressed up funny.

"I have a bad feeling about this," he muttered.

The mistletoe following in his wake as he powered on past said he wasn't completely wrong about that one.

Anakin had a complicated relationship with these movies because his mun thought she was HILARIOUS, so he slowed down at the line. "This will be better than going in Georgetown, right?" he said. "Maybe I can tell Rory to scalp the other tickets and use them to pay for Christopher's preschool..."

"I can definitely say it'll be more fun than in Georgetown," Kitty offered

"Way fewer drunk college students here, for one," Anakin agreed. "Are costumes necessary?"

Asked the guy in Jedi robes...

"If they were, I'd be ashamed that I left my princess costume at home." She was still sort of ashamed, actually.

"Which version?" Anakin asked. "I like the one on the city in the sky."

Jaina had been on her way to the Perk when she'd been led to the theater by a couple squirrels who apparently didn't want her to miss out.

"They made another one of these?"

"Apparently," Anakin said with a grin. "Rory's really excited."

[solo_sword]

"But... weren't the last ones not great?" she said. "I'm so confused."

[sith_happened]

"Me too," Anakin admitted, "but Juliet's already planning to be the new girl for Halloween and I'm in favor of anything that stops me from having to listen to that damn singing snow musical..."

"I missed that one too," Jaina said, and she was not sorry.
