Caritas- Tuesday

In less than 20 days, Kitty was going to be a married woman. That part wasn't what freaked her out, it was just that it still seemed like there was so much to do and the deadline to get it all done was so close.

So the bar had been taken over by all things wedding while Kitty texted people to finalize this thing or that thing, and Tino tried to stay clear in case he ended up being wrangled into making table numbers or whatever.

"I'll have the usual, Tino," Tamsin said, sitting down at the bar.

Tino immediately ran off to work on the unnecessarily complicated Bloody Mary that constituted Tamsin's 'the usual'.

"Now what's happened to the bar?"

"I get married in less than three weeks," Kitty explained. "That's what happened."

"I guess there's no complaining about your work ethic," Tamsin said. "Have you gone full Bridezilla on us yet?"

"I don't think so? I haven't felt the urge to yell at anyone or cry because the flowers I want aren't in season or whatever." Plus her BFF coming back from the dead last week kinda put some things in perspective. "Can you be a bridezilla of organization?"

"Depends on the organization," Tamsin said, studying the bar. "Are you working full work-weeks of briding or just doing it on the weekend?"

"Neither, because there was sex pollen, then spring break, then drama back home and I haven't had full time or free weekends," Kitty said. "Sooo... more like working in briding in between work and real life."

"Then you're probably fine," Tamsin said, as Tino finally showed up with her overly-elaborate Bloody Mary. "I don't actually know all that much about weddings. Makes you long for the Viking days. Not enough swords in ceremonies these days."

"With some of my friends you might be in luck on the sword thing," Kitty said brightly.

...She hoped Deadpool didn't crash.

"And with that, I'm suddenly 50% more interested in seeing this go down," Tamsin said, sipping from her glass. "Nice briding."

"Glad to hear it," she said. "If it helps even more, my biggest fear is that some of the guests may try to kill each other."

"You did hire guards, right?" Tamsin stirred her drink with the celery stick.

"Yeeeeeah, that wouldn't do any good," Kitty said, making a face.

"Why not?" Tamsin said. "Sometimes you just have to find the right kind of guards."

"About half the guests are superpowered, some come with weapons as part of their anatomy... We usually are the guards," Kitty explained.

"So hire some of the guests," Tamsin said, with a shrug and a quick omission of the part where that basically sounded like every Fae wedding ever.

"Or I could ask everyone nicely to behave or I'll kick their asses and save us some money."

Then Kitty would go Bridezilla.

"That's definitely a good way to get a fight started," Tamsin said, biting the end of her celery stick.

Kitty shook her head. "Gotta listen to the bride. I'm pretty sure that's a law."

"Don't you watch TV?" Tamsin said. "The bride bellows 'no fighting at my wedding' before the wedding, the entire room is going to start brawling over somebody banging someone else's sister or something. That line's one you pull out when the fight's just getting started."

Kitty went quiet for w moment.

"I'm trying to make sure there are no single sisters besides the one I know about."

"It's probably a good idea to chart 'single' or 'dumb because recent break-up' when you're seating people, anyway," Tamsin mused into her glass.

"I've mostly got that handled, but in a couple cases there's only so much I can do," she said. "And then there's the one new relationship with the woman everyone hates, and the girl who's not making good impressions and I don't even know."

Tamsin thought about it. "Ball pit or nerf fighting castle outside?" she suggested. "Or you can put them at the back with people you don't like and just kind of ignore them."

"Outside might be difficult. At least one of them won't be too difficult, I think." And now she had to think about it. "You'd get along with Illyana, I think. Big on swords."

"Russian?" Tamsin guessed.

"Good guess," Kitty said approvingly.

"Her people and my people have a long history," Tamsin said, taking another bite of her celery. "So that's not too bad."

"Good history, at least?" Here was hoping.

"Well, they definitely spent less time trying to invade Norway than they did Sweden or Finland." Beat. "Or Poland."

"If it helps, I can definitely say that neither she nor her brother invaded any countries," Kitty promised.

Tamsin, who had most certainly invaded countries in her day, took a sip of her Bloody Mary and just nodded. "I've got no beef with sword-wielding Russians," she decided. "So who else are you worried about?"

She was bored, and this was at least fun.

Uh, interesting.

"Brand. Who is my friend's new-ish girlfriend and she's awful," Kitty sighed. "Like, I'm fine with the 'does what needs to be done' types but she's just a bitch."

"Okay, how bad are we talking, and how good is the friend?"

"The friend is one of my favorite people since I was a kid. The girlfriend... She's the type who'd get annoyed waiting in line for Santa so she'd pull off his beard in front of the kids because she didn't want to do it anymore. Just as an analogy," Kitty added.

In fact, Brand was awesome. Kitty was just wrong in her opinions.

"Just ignore her," Tamsin advised. "That'll drive her nuts."

"The joy of it being my wedding is that I won't have to deal with her. I'll be too busy doing... I don't know, bride stuff."

And she could put Brand with Hank's other team. Sorry, Avengers!

"Eating a ton of cake and lording your superiority over everyone?" Tamsin offered.

"I was going to go with taking pictures and trying to drag my husband on the dance floor," Kitty said, "but that works too."
