Ezra had never had a real job before.

Sure, he'd bartended at Purgatory, but that didn't count. That was still Coterie work. Hardly the same thing as a regular job, even if pouring drinks wasn't as bad as some of his other assignments within the system. This was different. This was... just what it was, and nothing more.

There were still far too many bags of green jelly beans around. But, there was also a sale on newly arrived edible glitter in all the colors of the rainbow! Ezra felt like that was the store welcoming him.

Hello, Wonka's. And hello, Fandom. Ezra was ready to sell you some candy.

Lucille tilted her head a little, looking at him. "I trust your taste," she said. "Is there anything in particular you think I would like?"

Ezra took a moment to tilt his head to the side like he was really, truly making an effort to figure out what might please her best.

Then he slipped out from behind the counter, nodding for her to follow him to a corner of the store. "I think I have an idea, yes."

Lucille followed him. "I thought you might," she said, almost smirking.

Ezra was definitely going to sell her some of the edible glitter, later. But for now, he led her to where the chocolates were. And not just any chocolates, but the better ones.

"I figure something refined is in order," he said, reaching for a box and presenting it to her. "Something like this. Fine and Belgian, and rich with tradition."

Lucille peeked into the box. Chocolate had been a rare treat at Allerdale Hall, and Belgian chocolates had never been offered, especially not to the children. "They look delicious," she said, the tip of her tongue on her upper lip.

[SP is love, and Midsummer happened here too.]

Ezra smirked. "I have to tell you that makes me want to say 'that makes two of you'," he noted, "but I think that might be crass, so I won't."

Lucille raised her gaze from the chocolates and looked at him questioningly.

"But you did say it," she pointed out with half a smile.

"Well, that's the joke," Ezra replied with a light little shrug. Mostly just on one side. "Though I apologize in case it offended."

He really didn't think it had. But, politeness could be a thing.

"There is no need to apologize," Lucille replied, smile widening a little. "Do you offer samples?" Of the chocolates.

"Yes."

Of the chocolates, too. They had a dedicated box for that and everything, so he got that out and held it out for her to choose from. "It's not all the same as this box, but it gives you an idea about the decadence that is Godiva chocolates."

It was hard to choose, but Lucille picked one and put it in her mouth. It was delicious. Decadence was the right word. "It is..." she was looking for a word. "I like it very much."

"I figured you would." He looked pleased, like he so often did. "It seemed like it'd suit you."

Lucille smiled at him. "You seem to know what suits me." Or at least he thought he did. She was prepared to let him believe that, as it seemed to lead to pleasant things.

"In this instance, anyway." Well, a box of high-end chocolates suited most people. He shrugged one shoulder, just barely. "I like guessing."

"It was a good guess," Lucille said. "I think few would find these not to their taste though. I'd like to have a box, please."

She could share them with Cassandra perhaps.
