FANDOM EXPOSITION, The Park, All Day Saturday (8:00 - 23:00)
Where had the staff come from? Nobody knew. But sometime at six in the morning, a group of people arrived in the park and immediately spread out over the premises, constructing a bunch of nondescript stands at a rapid pace. They set out cheap soft drinks on the picnic tables, put up some large banners, cleaned the place up and scared off a few errant flamingoes.
By seven, they had once again dispersed.
FANDOM EXPOSITION, read the large banner at the entrance to the park. MARKET! SHOPPING! FUN! (fun not guaranteed)

Beats by Jaylah
Re: Beats by Jaylah
Of course, anyone who watched her would also find her eventually watching them right back.
On her table was a selection of old music (old to her time, anyway). James Tee had introduced her to a library full of it, and Jaylah had greedily but reverently combed through and selected her favorites. In the end, she had created mixes, using songs that went well together to set a particular mood. Most of the time, that mood was 'righteous anger.' There was an especially large concentration of rap songs in the mixes.
She had stored some of the mixes on the old-fashioned discs Montgomery Scotty had called 'records,' and others on old fashioned 'flash drives.' The track lists, she had written herself in painstaking
EnglishFederation Standard, and though there were a handful of spelling errors here and there, it wasn't bad for someone who had taught herself the language from a crashed ship that had been left offline for decades.So. Step right up and experience the joys of 'classical' music, one and all. Jaylah's customer service skills were less than perfect, but her music was good and that was what mattered, right?

Mike Lane Custom Designs
Re: Mike Lane Custom Designs
He figured his main selling point was going to be a binder full of mock-ups of the kind of stuff he could make. It was 'Mike Lane Custom Designs', after all.
And even if he got no orders in or no sales today, he still felt a shit-ton of a lot better standing here at his stall by his furniture than he had all week working shitty construction on the mainland. So his smile right now was pretty genuine.
Gourmet Bites
Re: Gourmet Bites
Besides, every outdoor festival needed food, didn't it?
Hannibal was here to provide.
Taleggio flatbread
Grilled cheese and short rib sandwiches with pickled caramelized onions and arugula
Grilled brie and pear sandwiches
Devils on horseback
Gruyere and parmesan beignets
Sweet and savory orange cumin shortbread
Fried herbed almonds
Vanilla curry cotton candy
Lavender macarons with lavender-infused chocolate ganache
Honey rosemary lemonade
Italian sodas: almond, pomegranate, or basil-blueberry
And very good coffee.

Covent Garden Flowers
Re: Covent Garden Flowers
So, he carted a bunch of plants and flowers from the shop out to a stall here and arranged them as best he could, and waited.

BAR
Re: BAR
But a short trip around later, he'd found himself-- well, stolen, really, but who was paying attention?-- a couple of bottles of wine and spirits and a whopping two crates full of beer, and this seemed like a sleepy sort of place, the kind where he wouldn't be getting a whole load of customers anyway. So he did a bit of decorating (http://orcz.com/images/thumb/5/5f/Fallout4TradingStand.jpg/400px-Fallout4TradingStand.jpg) - he wasn't an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but you made do, didn't you?
When he was done - which was to say, about ten minutes later - he sat himself down on that tiny uncomfortable chair behind the stand and set his bottles down bar one.
"Blue wine," he mused, pouring a large helping of it into a plastic cup. "Now that's interesting."
Come, get a drink off the Irish fella in the too-big hoody with the hood pulled over his head. Why not?

recently down on his luck piratecompletely legitimate business fellow with newly diversified interests might have acquired through various means that you couldn't prove weren't legal.Behind the stall itself, perched atop what looked suspiciously like stacked munitions crates, sat a very dashing (if he might say so himself) Weequay, his feet up, mug of something that smelled strongly of caf, booze, or both depending on when exactly you stopped by, in hand.

The Post
Re: The Post
Still, when he came across a stall marked as belonging to his beloved Post, stacked with fresh copies of the day's early edition, he figured that was where he ought to be. Even if he was a reporter and not a damn newsboy.
He got out his pipe, and lit a match off the sole of his shoe to light it. "Ladies and gentlemen, come get your news right here!"
Straight from 1931, people.
Picnic Area
Come, sit, look at your purchases, bug other people...
Re: Picnic Area
She found she really didn't mind, though. She'd been gone for way too long. And, ooh, there was a market! So, she went to get herself a soda. Time to see if she'd find anything interesting.
Re: Picnic Area
Now, he was standing and staring because he hadn't really expected to see someone who looked so familiar. He blinked and wondered if maybe he was on something or if she was really there.

Re: Picnic Area
"I wanna," Valentine declared, waving her hand at the closest, most colorful stand she could see.
"In a little bit sweetheart," Ender said, and settled down at a table. "First, we have to have lunch."

Re: Picnic Area
So the picnic, continuing on after dark as it was, was actually rather more novel than the small collection of stands thrown together to make some sort of impromptu market. Horst had seen plenty of markets in his time with the Cabal Brothers Carnival, but a picnic?
He smiled a little to himself, and then sat down at a table, quite content to people-watch for a little while before getting up to explore the displays. He was certain he was a little off course on his way to get... wherever he was going. Away from where he had been, at the very least. But if a supposed Lord of the Dead couldn't take his time to enjoy the sights in a place where he wasn't being shot at or hunted down by man-creatures of various shapes, who could?
Re: Picnic Area
He took a seat at the picnic area for a moment, apparently at peace.
Well, except for the way he was eyeing Hondo's stand, anyway.
