Halloween party at The Boards

As promised, they had dropped Joni off at the vet, gotten someone to clean up the mess, and now there was a lot of alcohol and food.

The flowers and such were gone, but at least the decorations that were left were mostly black and saffron-colored, which would work as well for Halloween as anything.

Actually, given their wedding attempts, it would probably work better for Halloween.

Jono had chosen music, Hannibal had cooked food, and the doors were thrown open. The erstwhile grooms were dressed in costumes, and they hoped other people would be, too.

Happy Halloween, everybody!

The menu for today is:

Squab drumsticks on figs and fig newtons

Assorted odd-looking (but yummy!) cheeses
Spiderweb eggs, some devilled
Grilled octopus with ancho-chile sauce
Various tentacle pot pies
Bat wings
Assorted bizarre cocktails
Green monster shots

Cake pops

Ganache-filled fig pumpkins

Cupcakes


Along with assorted moddable other gourmet treats, with Hannibal's unique brand of humor set loose on Halloween, and plenty of beer, wine, and seltzer-with-syrups sodas.

This was Lucille's first Halloween party. She wasn't used to dressing up, and although she was quite pleased with her costume, Cassandra's compant was a comfort. It might not be appropriate for an evil queen to feel self-conscious, but a costume couldn't really transform you completely.

Cassandra was not really dressed up in a costume; she was merely wearing her armor (and had brought her sword). So in a roundabout way one could say that she was fully transformed in a way that Lucille was not.

She was not inclined to entertain such thoughts. "I still do not understand the point of this holiday," she admitted, to Lucille.

"I don't fully understand it either," Lucille said, glancing at Cassandra. "But there will no doubt be good food and hopefully no glitter."

She also enjoyed wearing this dress, but she wasn't going to admit that. Well, possibly to Sparkle who had picked it out for her.

"Lucille." Hannibal smiled at her as he came to greet them. "You look lovely; I'm very pleased you could make it."

Dante showed up to the party with... an empty pizza box. Not as a costume; he'd just brought it to carry free food home in and figured it'd function just fine as a pizza delivery guy costume.

And okay, fine. If this had been a halloween party run by anyone his age, he'd have taken off his shirt and called it a porn pizza delivery guy costume. But since it wasn't, he'd take his pizza box and head for the food.

"Are you actually bringing pizza so there's real food here, or is that your costume?" Ada, mean, the adults had probably worked very hard on all the very strange food.

Ada had dithered about going to the party -- it was run by adults, after all -- but in the end decided her costume deserved to get out and get more use beside the trip they'd made to the festival in Maryland.

So there was one Halloween fairy flitting about, mostly here for the food.

Lucille did not look at Ada, but that didn't mean she wasn't aware of the other girl's presence. She was uncomfortably aware of it and compensated by only paying attention to Cassandra.

Which wasn't hard, Cassandra was wonderful.

Eliot wasn't going to mention the (distinct lack of) wedding. He was going to very conspicuously not mention the wedding. He'd even busted out his slightly-more-formal bolo tie for his cowboy costume in honor of the now-canceled-again occasion. So there were going to be eyebrows and smirks all around.

Thank you for that, Eliot. At this point, though, Hannibal was just enjoying the party and resigned to the rest of it.

"Eliot, welcome." Hannibal waved him toward the food. "Can I get you a drink?"

Kanan was in no mood to deal with weddings, but parties were a different story. Of course, he'd gotten enough of an idea of what the holiday was about from the Luke's staff yesterday that he was aware that he was supposed to dress up, but he wasn't entirely convinced that pulling off 'half-assed Jedi' using a housecoat was going to fly, here.

And mugging a buckethead to steal their armor was even less likely to end well for him. So...

He was here, anyway, and if anybody asked, his costume was 'weekend Kanan.' Who was identical to 'weekday Kanan,' but slightly more sober. So far.

He greeted him with a nod and smile, but gestured at his clothes. "No costume for the evening?"

Of course Jono was here. The party was his consolation prize for the rest of the damn day. And he'd thank people to not mention the marriage word to him, because he was dressed as Robin Hood - literally the first costume he'd pulled off the rack in the costume storage room here at the Boards - and was not afraid to thump somebody upside the head with his bow if it came to that.

It... probably wouldn't. Hopefully. He was going to be over here working the sound system, anyway. Because apparently playlists needed babysitting.

... He'd take requests. Come to him with requests.

Hannibal grinned at her. "I heard you say the food was amusing. I'm pleased you think so, Agent Parker." He gave her a little bow. "I thought them appropriate for the holiday."
