It kind of sucked to have to work at night on Valentine's Day, but Kitty was the boss blah blah with responsibilities blah. Also who knew, maybe there'd be customers who needed to be at a bar tonight.

The zombies were only playing love songs tonight.

Where there was a Kitty.

Pinkie was on the look out for a party, and Caritas's sign seemed more promising than the one that offered free beer.

"Free round of what?" she asked cheerfully.

As though she had any other setting.

"Any drink," Kitty said, tilting her head a little at her. "Do I know you?"

She didn't know a ton of pink people here.

And this one's voice was soooooooooooo familiar!

"I don't think so?" Pinkie said. "I mean, maybe. Apparently there was another version of me here once upon a time so maybe you knew her?" She shrugged. "I'm Pinkie Pie! Can I have a round of sarsaparilla?"

"Sure." They had pretty much everything, they had to have that. "Wait, so like... the pony Pinkie?"

"Yup! Only I'm not a pony." In case you didn't notice, Kitty. "It's this whole parallel magical dimensions thing. . . . I didn't get to be a pony princess, but I think probably the pony Pinkie doesn't get to float when she does a wicked drum solo! So it all evens out."

"Trust me, I know parallel dimensions," Kitty said, sliding over her drink. "I'm intrigued by the drum solo thing."

Pinkie sipped her sarsaparilla and beamed. "My friends back home and I have a band and everything and we've even defeated evil magical monsters with our music. I'm the drummer."

"...I'm kind of jealous," said the superhero.

"Awww! I'm sure you can learn to drum too! Just . . . maybe not the magic floating fighting evil thing."

"I'm a mutant," she shrugged. "Kinda with the floating and definitely the fighting evil, not so much with the musical inclination."

"Ooo, neat!" Pinkie didn't even blink at that explanation. "Well then, the drum playing's pretty much just icing after all that anyway."

Mmmmm. Icing.

"But it's a really cool icing," Kitty pointed out. "So what do you do here now?"

She wasn't going to assume she was doing what the other Pinkie had, after all.

Which was good, since the other Pinkie was, ostensibly, a grown up.

"Let's see, I learn about Civil War history and fancy fun baking techniques at school. And when I'm not in school I usually text my friends back home and bang on things and sometimes I make cupcakes!"

"You bang on things... like the drums?" She wouldn't put it past the Pinkie she knew at least to just... bang on things.

"Or bowls, or trees, or tables, or you know. Whatever's lying around. It's a drummer thing."

Or a "being powered entirely by sugar and glitter" thing. One of those.

"Hey, why not," Kitty said. "It's not like the bowls or tables mind."

"If they do, they've never complained!"

"If they do, don't be surprised," Kitty warned.

"Okay?" Pinkie said. "I mean, I might. Because they don't usually talk."

"We have weird things happen sometimes. There's a total possibility one day they might talk."

It should bother Kitty that she was this blasé about it.

"Oooo. Do you get magic bleeding in from another dimension sometimes? That happens back home."

"Well... sometimes. But mainly Fandom's just a weird place where weird things happen," she said.

"Like magical talking ponies and mutant evil-fighters!"

"Exactly! It all works." Which she liked, personally.

A little while into the evening, there was also a Clint, wearing a sleeveless shirt and the tightest pair of jeans he owned. What could he say, he knew his audience.

"I hope the zombies don't have any songs about heartbreak in their set tonight, that's for tomorrow."

"Not for us," Kitty grinned, looking him over. "Hello there."

"Hello beautiful," he said, leaning over the bar to give her a kiss. "We have too many flowers in our house now."

"No such thing," she said, kissing him back. "It's pretty, and also thank you for mine."

"You're welcome. Tony's flower was a nice little addition to the mix of roses," Clint said, laughing. "He can be surprisingly romantic sometimes."

"Romantic or not, he gets to wait, because today's for us," Kitty said. "...And the other bar patrons and zombies."

Clint laughed, and then came around to stand behind the bar with Kitty. "Here, now we can face the patrons together."

It was possible he had no business being behind a bar but shhh, details.

"Are you gonna bartend with me?" Kitty laughed.

"Sure. If there's ever a day people are gonna ask for the shots with dirty names, it's today, and I know how to make those," Clint teased.

"You know I'm going to test you on that, right?" she checked.

"I wouldn't expect anything less," Clint teased, crossing his arms over his chest. "Go on."

Kitty ran through the catalog in her brain that came with doing this for the last six- oh god- years. "All right, let's start with Sex At My House."

[AUGH!]

Clint laughed, shaking his head. "I don't know why I thought you'd start off with an easy one," he said, reaching for the amaretto. "It's this and pineapple and... okay, not knowing exactly where you keep all the booze is going to be a slight problem, do you have raspberry liqueur somewhere?"

"Right over here," Kitty said, being nice enough to get the bottle to hand him and trading, "When have I ever gone easy on you?"

"There are so many dirty jokes about our sex life that I could make right now, but I'm saving them for when we're home alone later," Clint promised as he made the drink.

"You did ask for dirty drink names," Kitty pointed out. "If you think I'm not basing them off our sex life..."

"Okay, good point," he said, offering her the glass. "Do you want to test it or do you want me to? I promise, it should taste good."

"Not helping," Kitty said, trying not to laugh as she took the glass. "I'll take this one for the team."

So she tried it, and decided, "Good job."

Clint gave himself a little fistpump because hey, small victories were important. "I'm sure you can make them better but you're a professional," he said. "And hotter and more wonderful, which I feel I should point out on today of all days."

"Like I should point out how amazing and special you are and how much I love all of you, not just your arms," Kitty grinned.

Where you could get away from the people a little.

Here be romcoms on the tv.

Whoever left strawberry dark chocolate on my desk is my favorite person.
