Kitty was absolutely confident that today would not involve the never ending stream of coffee at work.

Instead when she got to work, she found the bar covered in pies, all perfect-looking in their tins.

Anders didn't often go to Caritas on weeknights (or, well, ever), but he was in the neighborhood and noticed the sign just as his stomach rumbled. He took a quick detour into the bar.

"Are you really giving pie away?" he asked, curious. "Just free pie? What wonderland is this?"

"You going to ask questions right now?" Dante asked him.

"Well, I don't want to take a pie if there's something wrong with them," Anders reasoned.

"If someone left pie out that's shitty," Dante reasoned, "They're not going to tell you, right?"

"Kitty might," Anders argued. "She's nice, unlike some people."

"Then she wouldn't leave it out for anyone to grab," Dante shot back.

"Maybe she didn't have time to get rid of it yet," Anders speculated. "Maybe Tino put it out. He's shifty."

"Tino usually brings me booze. He's all right," Dante decided. "Just eat some freaking pie, Anders. You're overthinking again."

"I wasn't going to not eat the pie," Anders said, stubborn. "I was just asking about it. You're being pretty judgmental here."

"Fandom sometimes thinks it's funny, and I don't know what to do with a bartop full of pie. So yep, have pie. A whole pie, even."

Kitty had a lot of pie.

"Thank you, Fandom," Anders said, as he snagged a pecan pie. "I'm just glad I can help you out of a pinch."

"Anytime," Kitty said. "Seriously. Given how March is going this place might be overflowing with something else again next week."

"Might not even take that long," Anders suggested. "Isn't Friday a holiday? We could get those little fairy-things. Leprechauns."

Kitty frowned for a moment. "I'm trying to figure out if we've had those before or if it was just in my writing samples," she said.

"I haven't seen them, but it wouldn't surprise me," Anders told her. "But how long have you been here that you could've forgotten?"

"Going on six years. A lot of things start blending together at that point," Kitty admitted.

"Almost three years for me," Anders admitted. "And I know what you mean. I don't know which holiday had the eggnog in the faucets and which had hot chocolate."

Dante'd felt like a drink, but not too far away this time. So... following the roomie to Caritas? Would work out fine.

"Whiskey, please."

"Coming right up," she said, turning for a glass. "Please take pie, too."

Dante eyed the pie. "Rob a bakery?" he guessed.

"Fandom thinks it's funny. It's not funny," she explained.

It was a tiny bit funny.

"It's free pie," Dante pointed out, ever the pragmatist.

"A girl can only have so much pie before it becomes a problem," she pointed out.

"Only if a girl's not creative," Dante said, shrugging.

"A girl's not creative about pie," she said. "A girl had to be creative about coffee last week and is sort of done now."
