The Park, and then the Trooper Station, Monday Morning
The trip back to Earth in the shuttle didn't take more than a few hours, but out of habit he ended up pulling out of ID space just over DC, instead of Fandom Island.
"That's weird," he mused, noting the absence of the Taelon Embassy in the city's skyline as he flew towards the coast. He figured the government must have decided to tear it down after the Taelons had left. A few minutes later, the navigational computer pinged to let him know he was approaching Fandom and he began the landing sequence. The virtual glass had barely dissolved and he was just stepping out when a person in strange white and blue came stalking up.
Liam tensed, curling his hands in to fists as his palms began to itch. Blowing something up immediately after touching down would be a hell of a first impression, and one he kind of wanted to avoid.

Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"So," he continued, "Like I said, I don't actually know about a weapons policy, but there might be something in the computer about that? I could look it up?" he offered.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"I'd appreciate that," Nathan replied, smiling faintly. "There wasn't much of anything when I lived here last, but times change, and the island is prone to changing as fast as anywhere else. I'd rather be certain than find out at the worst possible time that suddenly, people aren't supposed to carry swords or firearms around here."
Of course, he'd protest if he had to put his away. He'd lived through a zombie invasion here, after all. But knowing if there was something to protest was a good first step.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"Looks like you're good to go, here in town at least," he said, after a moment of scrolling through search results. "Weapons are restricted while on the school campus, though."
Which also answered the question he'd had since arriving about what that big castle that dominated the town's skyline was for.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"So, same as before, then," Nathan mused, looking curiously at the computer. "There's still an exception on campus in case of dangerous invasions, I hope?"
Because he was not going to pay attention to that one if that rule had changed. Not by a long shot.

"No clue what that is," Nathan admitted, "but sure. Probably at some point. I've seen things like zombies and flying piranhas before. I'm fairly certain anything is possible around here."
He shrugged his shoulders.
"I'd be surprised if they weren't in the records somewhere. The island is one of those places that tends to be peaceful, right up until it isn't."
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
Liam snorted. "Well now, that sounds oddly familiar."
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"Then you'll get along just fine around here," Nathan replied pleasantly. "Or as well as the rest of us. Have you been on the island long?"
Look, he'd only just said he'd just gotten here. That could just be referring to the station itself. It didn't hurt to ask.

Okay, that startled a bit of a laugh out of Nathan, there.
"That recently? I didn't see that coming," he admitted. "Then I suppose asking how you're settling in would be kind of pointless right now, too. You've barely managed to find your desk."

Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"I suppose a job is a vast improvement on a parking ticket," Nathan mused. "It's a step towards surviving on the island, at least. That, a place to stay, and someone to tell you what local fauna to give a wide berth to, mostly."
Gremlins, alots, and teenagers, for example.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
... He'd spent the first four years of his life calling a room above a friend's nightclub 'home', he had no idea how this 'finding a place to live' thing worked.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"Well, I know a bit about surviving here," Nathan noted. Because again, there had been damn zombies, once. "And I happen to have a house with a few spare rooms left, if you don't mind sharing a living space with a couple of people who are practically strangers. Otherwise, there's the hotel, and there might be a couple of places free in the apartments. I don't know what your budget looks like at the moment, though."
What? It couldn't hurt to be on law enforcement's good side. Even if Fandom's law enforcement wasn't so concerned about the 'enforcing' part.

"I'm not terribly worried about money. I let my other tenant move into the place in exchange for building me some damn chairs," Nathan replied, amused. "And besides, if you don't pay up, I'll know where you live."
That was the convenient thing about living with your tenants, really.

Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"It's that way," Nathan said, gesturing vaguely. "At 29 Chimera Court. It's actually a house, instead of one of the multitude of businesses, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding it."
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
It was one hell of a coincidence.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"... Just down the road, yes. If you walk down Unicorn Street and turn right onto Loon Drive or Left onto Apocalypse Ave depending on which direction you go from here, you can follow it right to the end and it'll get you there," Nathan said, raising an eyebrow. "We can pull out a map and show you, if you like. There's likely one around here somewhere."
It was a coincidence that Nathan wasn't privy to, alas.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"Maybe I should try navigating without one," Liam mused. "It'd be a good way to get a lay of the land, I guess." Not that there was all that much land to get a lay of, but. You know.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"Fair enough. If you manage somehow to get lost, I basically have a view of the beach from my front door. Just follow the shoreline until you reach civilization again and you'll make it there eventually."
The benefits of living on a small island.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
Re: Trooper Station is Open For Business! ... Kinda.
"If anything tries to bite you between here and the house, don't let it," Nathan offered. "Especially anything little and green. Beyond that, nothing terribly pressing that we can't talk about later. But I can walk you through some island survival basics, things you'll need in order to get by here, that sort of thing, if you like."
