Homecoming Carnival Post I | The Park | Friday, October 20

The park had been transformed into the traditional Homecoming Carnival, open for everyone: students, teachers, townies and of course for visiting alumni.

 

Welcome to kiss, throw pies at or dunk your friends and enemies, and enjoy a nice sunny day.

What did it mean when the mechanism meant to be hit by the ball started moving all by itself?

Probably that Anakin was bored in his dunk tank. And a jerk.

Both of those things, and Kanan would put extra emphasis on that last bit. Especially since he didn't notice it was moving until it was too late.

In he went. And when he came out again, it was with a string of profanity in every language from Huttese to Kalleran that came to mind.

Of course it ended with a, "Skywalker!"

Yeah, Kanan was still working on that whole 'Jedi peace' thing. Which was why he was going to try to shove Anakin's target right back.

Anakin waved his hand and a ball went whizzing towards the target.

"Better?" he asked sweetly.

He was going to just haul himself back out of the water, give him a sour look as he set his seat up again, and climb back into it.

"Much."

Funny, he didn't sound especially satisfied.

This sort of unnecessary escalation had gotten Anakin banned from every paintball course in the tri-state area in a variety of multiverses.

"I'm here to help," he said, nodding.

Kanan was muttering to himself, now.

"You're a real piece of work, you know that?"

He used to look up to this guy. Never meet your heroes, right?

Kanan doubted Anakin needed the help.

"Probably...40 percent of it," Anakin admitted.

Kanan was actually kind of impressed about that bit, admittedly.

"Maybe I need to start taking lessons from them, too."

Considering he was teaching Summer how to fly and Tip how to use a bladed weapon, he was probably making up at least a little for the fact that he wasn't in a classroom this semester, at the very least.

"They teach me other things, too," Anakin replied, "but the teasing is more fun."

"I bet they're thrilled to have such a naturally gifted student," Kanan said, his tone still the slightest bit dry. "How did Master Kenobi not blow you out an airlock when you were his Padawan?"

And possibly a heavy drinker.

"Clearly," Kanan sighed, settling back in his seat again and shaking his head. "Maybe he could share some of that patience with the rest of us."

"That he won't do," Anakin said. "He hoards it all to himself."

About Obi-Wan, mostly.

"So... he's back on the island again, huh?"

Anakin nodded. "Though he's really not much for celebrations these days."

"Nah, I didn't figure I'd catch him around here," Kanan allowed. "He's more a 'hut in the woods with the eopies' kind of guy nowadays. I should pay him a visit at some point."

Since his training had gone on hold again when Obi-Wan had left, and now Kanan had slid back into this weird holding pattern of procrastination and running through what Soresu drills he could remember. He had nobody to blame but himself for that, at least.

"Get me out of mine," Kanan replied. And then kind of made a face and shrugged his shoulders. Now was not going to be sharing and caring time with Anakin Skywalker, damn it. "It's good to see him here, anyway."
