The causeway and beyond to Baltimore, Saturday

Hera was actually a bit excited about this. Sure, she had all of back home and the island, but still, living on a planet and never getting to see the rest of it was a bit annoying.

They'd hired a van for the day, and she planned to make the most of the opportunity. There would be shopping at one of these "malls", and then a Halloween party.

She hoped some other folks wanted to join them, especially the others who wouldn't normally be able to get out, either.

Breq had heard about this, and while she knew costumes were expected at this festival, she hadn't had the time to find one, or even find out what kind was traditional. Perhaps someone would be able to assist, or perhaps she would be fine anyway. She just wore her usual clothes, and looked around for anyone she knew.

“Hello.” Hera didn’t know her, but was perfectly happy to be friendly anyway. “I’m Hera. Are you coming with us?”

Breq was perceptive enough not to think Hera wore a costume.

"I thought I would, if you don't mind," she said. "I didn't have time to dress up, though, and to be honest I'm not really familiar with the holiday."

Summer hadn't had many opportunities to talk to Breq, like, at all, but what better way to change that than by bonding with her over a super nerd Halloween trip? So there she was, bouncing over in her full Fulgora costume that was totally living for, and a little wave.

"Hey, Breq, are you excited for the party?"

Excited was perhaps an exaggeration, but Breq didn't mind celebrating this holiday.

"I am," she said, no excitement on her blank face. "I see you have found a costume."

She was about to say that she was looking for one, beyond the green paint on her face that she had got from Kanan, but quickly decided that Summer wasn't the right person to ask.

"It looks nice on you." And a little revealing, perhaps, but that didn't bother Breq.

Kanan was wearing his usual garb today. Just... his face was green, with little black geometric patterns across his cheeks. Today he was Mirialan, apparently.

He turned a wry grin toward Hera.

"You know," he noted, "people are going to think I'm the one who didn't put effort into my outfit."

And she was going as-is.

Hera grinned. “I tried to find something interesting at the scrapyard yesterday, but there really wasn’t a lot. Maybe I’ll find something at the mall.”

"The malls are way better for shopping than anything on the island," Kanan agreed with a nod. More like what we're used to. Kind of like a low-tech Nar Shaddaa. Less Huttish, though."

Malls smelled better.

Breq didn't know anyone so far, and considering this place it was hard to know whether people wore costumes or whether it was their regular outfits. She was going to assume that green-painted face with geometric patterns weren't what this person wore everyday, though, but of course she could be wrong.

"Hello," she said, face expressionless. "We haven't met, I think. My name is Breq and I'm not wearing a costume. Yet, anyway."

"Hey, Breq," Kanan replied, giving her a smile. The expressionless face didn't bother him. Something about being Force sensitive just meant he could pick up on intent easily enough, anyway. "I'm Kanan. I'm, uh, not usually green."

It was a good color for him, though.

Summer waved, bouncing up in her Fulgora costume, and then casting a glance toward the van.

"Or should it be VDG? Are you dressing up as a Van Driving Guy today?"

"Oh, I am absolutely not Van Driving Guy today," Kanan replied, grinning. "I'm letting Hera have that distinct privelege today. Whenever I'm driving the shuttle service and she's on board, for some reason we always get shot at."

Well. Only on Gorse, really.

Sidon had been hearing bits and pieces here and there about this Halloween thing, and it sounded quite intriguing...and wonderful, really! So he had to make an appearance, with that barely-composed energy buzzing through him as he went to the causeway to check it out, wondering what could make a good costume.

Because giant red shark man apparently wasn't going to cut it....

Um. A costume party thing on the mainland. That included shopping. Being fronted by her favorite people on the island.

Duh-doy, Summer was going to be here. She came dressed up in her Fulgora costume, but she wasn't like married to it if she spotted something better while they were shopping around.

She did think she looked pretty bad ass, though.

Okay, so they were still getting looks here. Apparently not everybody dressed up to go shopping? But nobody seemed to be attacking, so Hera would take it as a win. Honestly, there were times she got similar looks back home; at least here not everyone was staring at her breasts or butt.

There was a lot of music, in a lot of different styles. There were science exhibits for Kanan to giggle at and call cute. And there were a lot of people to tell Hera how awesome her smuggler pirate costume - the tall boots and black vest and pants she'd found - was.

Or maybe just to ogle her lekku. But so long as most of them kept their hands off, she was good.

"Pirate," Kanan said appreciatively. "You know, that's not a bad look for you, Hera."

He knew from pirates. He'd been one.

Kanan, meanwhile, had decided to roll with the green he already had going for him, and then double down on it with an all-green outfit he'd found that looked... kind of like military garb. If the military didn't wear armor or have proper face protection on their helmets. And, uh, if for some reason they had a flat plank attached to the bottom of one foot. It hadn't taken him long to just take that boot off and go around in one sock foot, mind.

The store clerk had looked at him like he was crazy when he had asked about the plank, and then pointed him to the toy aisle, where everything had proceeded to make some sort of sense, at least.

"Hijack any good cargo lately?"
