There had been a gremlin in the bar in the early part of Kitty's shift. Seeing as how she didn't have to be solid, they never worried her much, but Tino hadn't fared so well.

So if you wanted to see Tino onstage doing mime after a gremlin bite, tonight was the night for it.

Steve walked into the bar and tilted his head at Tino. "Do I want to know?" he asked.

"Gremlin," Kitty said, and added quickly, "it's gone now."

Steve laughed. "Good to hear. He's not that bad a mime, actually. How long's he been stuck in that box?"

[throughaphase]

"About fifteen minutes. I admire his dedication but I'm starting to get a little worried," she said.

"Maybe you should throw him a rope?"

Steve thought he was hilarious.

"Try it, see if it works," she grinned. "Just rrmember: mine it."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I said 'you'," Steve said teasingly.

"I get to deal with his nonsense every week," she pointed out.

"So that makes you an expert at it," Steve said oh-so-earnestly.

Kitty paused. "Do you thin we'll break him if we both do it at the same time?"

"It's possible," Steve said. "Might be worth it anyway, though, for your sanity."

[throughaphase]

"Eh, I kinda leave my sanity at the door when I walk into this place," Kitty admitted. "It's easier that way."

"Smart," Steve said, grinning. "How long does a gremlin bite normally last?"

"I've never had one, so I'm not totally sure. I think it's as long as it takes a person to metabolize the venom?" she said. "Like sobering up."

"So he could be miming up there for a long time," Steve said, "and you'd be down a bartender."

[throughaphase]

"It's quiet enough to handle alone," she assured him. "Unless you'd like to play Tino for the night."

"I can be Tino," Steve said, "as long as no one orders anything too complicated."

He chuckled. "He's much better at mime than I would be."

Kitty gestured for him to come back behind the bar. "Though now I'm really sorry you're not miming."

Steve laughed as he joined her. "Well, maybe later, if you ask nicely."

"It would be part of the Tino experience," Kitty said. "Though now it feels weird to ask what you want to drink."

Steve grinned. "Well, I can't get drunk, so if you have anything you're experimenting with, I'm a pretty good guinea pig."

"Okay," she said, turning to look at the newer bottles. "It's experiment night now. We've got some weird vodkas. Pick a flavor, any flavor."

"Blueberry pancake," Steve said, pointing at the bottle.

Steve had learned nothing from Inadvisable Schnapps Night.

She kind of wanted to pat his head.

"Got it," she said, pulling the bottle. "You pick a mixer, I'll pick another liquor."

"What goes with blueberry?" Steve wondered, looking around. "Lemon something?"
