Peter's "phone" had alerted him to be here and to bring an odd cardboard box with him. Inside it were some even odder clear flasks of liquid, puffy crinkly bags that rattled when he shook them, and a smaller, shiny box.

So, he was here. Now what?

The squirrels on this island (very much unlike the squirrels in Llewdor) seemed to rather like Amaya, even after she balked over the idea that she had to read their notes into a machine that would broadcast her voice to anyone listening. The machine she liked, very very much, but the idea of doing the broadcast left her almost too mortified to move.

She hoped whatever the squirrels were nudging her to do right now was more along the lines of the paintball game than that radio nonsense.

Kaidan had a note on his calendar that repeated every Thursday: "Movie night, community center." An additional note on this week's entry read, "Ask Peter about 'Ghoulies'."

He found the community center easily enough. Heading inside, finding the room was a little more difficult, but he eventually managed. He nodded politely to the two other kids in the room, snagged a beverage and bag of..well, it sure was a bag of something that purported itself to be edible.

"So, is this like, a class or something? Or is it extracurricular? Do we get school credit for being here?"

Amaya shrugged, pushing up her ever-falling glasses, and running her tongue over her teeth before saying anything, because the novelty of a brace-less mouth was still all new and shiny for her and she couldn't stop doing that.

"I don't know," she admitted. "I just sort of came because the squirrels said I should. It's generally a good idea to do what squirrels tell you to do. They're small, but they are many."

Caleb had a little bit of time to spare before going to meet Emily for the hair-coloring thing, so he decided to check out the... 'holo class thing' that had been written out for him on the small stack of notes detailing his weekly agenda.

Apparently, some older version of himself with a weird name was pretty thorough.

So he was here, and kind of blinking and waving back at the awkward teen.

Yeah, this wasn't what he'd been expecting.

That awkward teen was looking him over curiously. He was dressed a bit like a monk or a trader, but it was still closer to what he was used to than anyone else here.

"Hi," he said, waving again. "Is this your club?"

Local entertainments probably weren't as good as Radchaai ones, but Seivarden was still curious to see what was happening in this class. And just the fact that there was a class for watching entertainments. She picked up her own bowl with some kind of local snack, and a bottle of some kind of sweet drink, while looking around to see who was there.

Well, it was only polite to wave back, then, Liam figured. He didn't quite know why he was here, but there'd been an alert in his Global about it, and movies were supposed to be fun, and he was trying to... have fun, right? So. Here he was.

Look, Jono wasn't here to socialize. He was mostly here as an excuse to get out of the house after waking up next to a guy he didn't know in exactly the level of undress that one might expect of two married men sharing a bed.

He felt maybe a little awkward about it, and didn't intend to go back to do more than feed Joni if he didn't have to. He wasn't sure how he'd caught wind of this film night thing, but it was as good an excuse as anything, and so here he was.

And as it would happen, standing against the back wall and watching everybody else trying to figure out how to work the DVD player was exactly the evening entertainment he'd needed.

Oh, Caleb was all over that. The technology here looked ancient, and he was fascinated with all the little bits and pieces.

... It helped that he could read the writing on the package that the infodisc thing came in, and he was perfectly happy to settle in to poke at buttons until something happened.

"I was expecting something a little more blue..."

And holographic. This was weirdly flat.

Peter had no idea what he was saying, but he was perfectly happy to watch as the other boy tried to figure this out. He'd just watch over his shoulder and ogle the strange mechanism.

Sure, the tech was a little outdated, but it was hardly ancient.

The movie was good, though, once they actually managed to get it started.

As the only other boy in the room when Kaidan arrived, Kaidan took a guess and figured that even if he was wrong, he'd be pointed in the right direction. "Hi. Are you Peter? If you're not Peter, can you show me who I should talk to? You look like you know what's going on."

Kaidan, it's really not nice to lie.

Peter perked up a little at hearing that name. "Peter," he agreed, pointing at himself.

Why he was "Peter", he had no idea, but it made about as much sense as anything else here.
