Groovy Tunes, Sunday
Back to the island, back to some semblance of responsibility... back to work. It had been a little too long since Jonothon had been around the Groovy Tunes, and it was showing a little, in painfully obvious ways. Behind on paperwork? Check. He was going to have to figure out currency conversions around the multiverse and mail out people's final pay to at least two former employees. Behind on placing ordes for the shop? Also check. After he was finished with the paperwork, he was going to end up running around with a clipboard and a pencil, just taking inventory.
It was fine. It was something to keep him engaged, keep him busy. His brain felt less bruised than it had been, but that only meant that this weekend, sitting idle was something he'd be quite happy to avoid doing.

And she didn't know what to do about it, so she was going to do nothing about it.
But she was going to curl up in a chair, with a book in her lap, so that he wasn't alone as he ran around working.

Crouched down in front of her.
//Hello, Sunshine.//

"Hi, Papa," she said, leaning over to hug him. "Is, is it okay if I keep you company today?"
no subject
Had worried himself sick, too. Up until he'd gone and fragmented himself, anyway. That was a work in progress, now.

"I'll stay with you all day then," she promised, lifting her head so that the words weren't muffled.

Shopping was always exciting.
"I...," Alluka hesitated. With Papa Jono the way he was, she didn't want to bring up the whole teaching her to fight thing yet. Not until he was feeling better. "Do you remember ages and ages ago? When I thought maybe I could learn an instrument? Do you think you'd still have time to teach me?"

He didn't have a mouth or lungs like most people did, so she knew that any instruments that needed those were probably out, though he'd likely still do his best to help her.
"Violins sound really pretty," she said, after a moment. "Um, um though I know you play the guitar."

He... didn't really have the chin for violin either. But was most certainly not about to let that stop him, no. He'd dabbled a bit, back in his... uh... blue period, after all.
//I think it'd suit you.//

Alluka hadn't even considered the chin issue, oops.
"Then, then I'd like to try it, if that's okay?"

"Are you sure, Papa?"

Bad violin playing was some of the worst.
"I'll practice really hard," she said, standing and smoothing her skirts with her free hand. "And then we could hold concerts together!"

Alluka actually wasn't sure if Papa Hannibal played anything like an instrument.
"Do you have any violins here, Papa?"

... He was going to blather about violins for a while, please bear with him.
//Any catch your eye, Sunshine?//

She blinked, when he asked if she liked any of them.
"Um, um." Alluka looked at them. "I really like this one, Papa."
It was so pretty, with the bright red and black.

At least in part in that it wasn't worth tens of thousands of dollars, like some of the other ones on the wall.
//Awright,// he pulled it down and held it out to her. //Let's see how it feels, then. Here, this goes on your shoulder like so... that's th'chin rest, for... resting your chin on, obviously...//
no subject
It felt odd, between her shoulder and the chin rest, but it wasn't a bad odd, just... a new one.
"It feels different," she said, seeing how it moved when she used her hand to shift it.
no subject
//Good different? Bad different?// Jono reached over to adjust her grip slightly, moving her hand down the neck of the violin. //How about now? Or is it just that it's something you aren't used to?//
