Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment

Peter stood up front and gave a little wave. "Welcome back everyone from before, and welcome new people. We're going to keep watching modern Earth entertainment so we can hopefully figure out a bit more about modern culture. Or remember it. Or just have a fun time and eat some popcorn."

He waved at the table to one side, which had plenty of popcorn, chips, and soda.

"Tonight we're watching one of the biggest recent movies, called meta for Black Panther. I hope everybody enjoys it."

Fjord smiled wryly.

"There are worse things." He tilted his head at Miguel, almost catlike, before adding, "I appreciate you doing what you can to put the mind of a stranger so at ease. You... didn't have to do that."

"Hey, I've been the odd one out a lot of my life, even before the spider thing." Miguel shrugged. "It mostly sucks. You probably have enough problems with this place already, you don't need that, too. You seem like a decent guy."

It was that damn high charisma.

"The spider thing... if you don't mind my asking... it's new, then?"

Miguel grimaced. "Yeah, I was born human. You want the rest of the story, catch me when I'm very drunk and very bored."

Nothing personal, Fjord; you'd already seen more than he showed most people.

"Fair enough," he replied. "I've got a few 'drunk and bored' stories of my own."

Oh, did he ever.

"Maybe we'll get together a 'drunk and bored' class," Miguel said. "We can meet at the bar weekly."

"Sounds educational," Fjord replied, grinning. "I'm in."

"We meet - what, Friday night? Saturday?" Miguel asked. "As founders, we get to pick."

Fjord chuckled and shook his head.

"My only commitments are on Mondays," he noted. "I suppose whatever your preference is, unless we find ourselves at the mercy of the tavern."

"Saturday then?" Miguel suggested. "We can pick up a few bottles and head to the beach."

"Sounds like a plan," Fjord replied, grinning faintly.

... He had no idea if he'd have his first pay by then, but if it really came down to it, he was willing to do odd jobs for spending money.
