While Kitty was sort of ready for this whole pregnancy thing to be over already, there was also some panic setting in that there was t really that much time left, and way too much left to do, and dye dydbt feel ready for this at all.

So, whenever she had a free moment, she was using her phone to make to-do lists or googling stuff to make it feel like she had a handle on this, for the love of god please distract her.

A little earlier in the evening than his usual-- there was a movie 'class' and his usual shooting-the-shit with Kaidan to get to as well-- Kanan slipped into the bar.

"Hey," he said, offering Kitty a grin. "How's my favorite bartender tonight?"

"I have ten weeks."

That's how.

Well, that earned a little whistle, at least.

"So, down-to-the-wire worrying setting in, huh?" He nodded a little, settling on in. "Offer still stands if there's anything at all I can do to make this easy on you. All-nighter babysitting contract aside, I mean."

"That's good to know, since we almost called for reinforcements on the crib yesterday," Kitty said. "Thanks. It's just... overwhelming and I don't know where to start. Hi. How are you?"

"Actually, I'm pretty good?" Kanan shrugged his shoulders. "You know, I have done a lot of handyman work over the years. If you get any more unintelligible baby equipment assembly directions or anything, I mean. It can't be more complicated than repairing the repulsorlifts on an ancient hoverbus."

Screw you, Mark Six Smoothride. It had been almost satisfying, watching you crash and burn. Except for the 'being on it at the time' part.

"... Probably. If it is, at least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing it's probably not just you."

"You're the best," she told him gratefully. "I swear half this stuff was designed by sadists, and there's only so much I can do overall because it's heavy or uncomfortable or I'm not supposed to be around things like paint fumes and it's all really annoying."

"Other odd jobs I have had over the years," Kanan offered, holding out a hand and ticking things off on his fingers. "Farmhand, explosives hauler - probably not actually relevant here, granted, bartender if you end up needing someone to cover for you here. I've got masks for handling the fumes, I actually picked some up just the other day. I don't mind painting, you've seen how much I can lift all at once, and if you need far too much of any one thing delivered to your place, I can handle that, too. Hell, I've got an in with the new owner of the T&C, I might be able to sweet-talk Summer into some discounts for you."

He shrugged.

"Throw me at whatever, Kitty. I mean it. We can go over your checklists together if it helps you sort out your priorities and what you do and don't need to do yourself. I have no experience with kids, but the technical stuff, I can handle."

"I'm going to hug you now," she warned, leaning through the bar.

"I'm here for the hugging," Kanan replied, holding his arms open and smiling crookedly.

Really, he was getting pretty good at it, since everyone he seemed to know on the island was apparently a hugger.

"I've got your back, alright? I'm sure I'm not the only one."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, we're lucky," she said, pulling back after getting a good hug in. "Clint's got some of his people here, Hardison found out I was pregnant and immediately claimed the shower... I'm definitely feeling the support."

"Good," Kanan replied, still smiling as he settled back onto his stool. "One thing this place is apparently great for, the moral support. Being surrounded by proactive people who'll leap in and do what they can."

... He wasn't going to ask what a shower was in this particular situation. Nope. Not gonna. He'd google it later.

"And thank god," she said. "I'm really lucky to have a good support system back home, too, but they're a universe away. So it's good to know there are people here."

"And all you need to do is tap us in," Kanan agreed. "I'm glad you're set wherever you go, though. Glad and not at all surprised. You're good people."

[throughaphase]

"You're either going to make me blush or get teary," she told him, and asked, "Which I guess is fair payback for what I do to you all the time."

Kanan laughed and shrugged his shoulders.

"People keep calling me a good person, I figure sooner or later I have to actually live up to it. By telling it like it is? I don't know. I'm still new at this."

At 'being good,' not 'telling it like it was.'

"I mean, you did literally just list your qualifications to help set up baby stuff," she pointed out.

"Yup," Kanan said, leaning his head back and staring at the ceiling. "Demonstrating I'm a good person by telling it like it is..."

Let him have his denial, Kitty.

"And now you're too helpful to tease you about being helpful," she frowned. "What can I tease you about?"

[uncertain_dume]

"My beard and eyebrows seem to be a popular choice," Kanan replied, offering her a wry smile. "How I secretly like teaching things to people but panic about it the entire time. Some students have taken to calling me 'Master' the same way Skywalker insists they do for him, which would be an excellent way to get a spit-take out of me..."

There was no shortage of teasing fodder, really.

"Don't forget the Hera stuff!" she added, but honed in on, "Wait, so you're Master Kanan to people now?"

Whelp. The Hera stuff was earning an immediate stupid grin and a faint blush, so job well done there, Kitty!

"I shouldn't be Master anything," he lamented a moment later, after clearing his throat. "I've had two students pull that one on me since I arrived here, both of them were part of the Empire, and I'm not entirely certain if they're mocking me when they use it, but I'm so far from being a Master it manages to turn my head inside-out every damn time."

One day, she was going to break out the flags that she had behind the bar, and it would be glorious.

"So what do you do when they call you that?" she wondered.

"If Seivarden comes in," Rosa said, leaning on the bar when she got in, looking around, not spotting her yet, "she's picking up my drinks."

Now she wondered if Seivarden wouldn't bother coming in just to avoid picking up her drinks.

"And if Captain Tightpants comes in," she added, "I'm picking up his."

It was clearly a whole thing.

"... Panic, a little?"

Seriously. So, so not a master.

"Okay..." Kitty said, nodding. "Which one is Captain Tightpants?"
