Jono came in to work today and kind of... just paused in the door.

Squinted a little.

Attempted, after a few minutes, to negotiate with the stereo.

But no, no matter what he did, the bloody thing continued to play Wiggles music. One song in particular, in fact. And while he was certain that Fruit Salad was, in fact, probably Yummy Yummy, there was only so much of the same beat, over and over, saying those same words ad nauseam that he could handle.

Especially since, even after the stereo finally gave it up and stopped playing it around noon, Jono still had it stuck in his bloody head.

Why.

She grinned up at him, setting her violin case gently on the counter, and opening it.

"I know how to tune it," she said proudly.

Hey, that was a pretty big deal, given that she'd had it for all of two weeks.

//Oh? By ear, or did you get yourself a tuner, luv?//

He was curious, okay?

"I got a tuner," she said, then shook her head. "But, honestly, Papa, it's easier to do it by ear."

//And do you check it against the tuner? After you do it by ear, I mean?//

He had no idea what her ear for music was like, but he had to admit he'd be impressed if it was that good already.

"Yes, Papa," she said, nodding. "Just in case, since it knows better than I do, really."

//Excellent,// Jono replied, pleased. //And have you been getting it close, then?//

"I get closer every time I try," she said, perhaps a bit optimistically, but not lying. "I'm not perfect yet, though."

//Still, improvement, that's good,// Jono replied, settling back to lean against the nearby wall, arms crossing over his chest. //How is it now? Did you tune it before you left?//

She bobbed her head in agreement.

"I thought it would be easier to do it there," she explained.
