Turtle & Canary; Saturday [09/15].
Summer was thinking about getting some...um...stuff done on Sunday, so she didn't know how much time she'd have to spend at the shop like usual, so she made sure to swing by that Saturday to work on her orders and stock and all that suuuuuuper fun stuff now so she'd have a bit more wiggle room tomorrow. But when she came in to find Apu there with a knowing smirk, she was suspicious at first. And then she got excited, and even more so when he told her she should swing by the produce section.
Where she'd discover the small display brimming with the meilooruns that had arrived that morning.
"They came! They're here!" Hopefully, Apu didn't mind his bouncy teenage boss hugging him, because that's what was going to happen before she bounced over to check them out.
"There's not very many, though," she noted with a faint frown, and Apu just shrugged a little, and so Summer shrugged back.
"We'll just have to put some of these aside, then," she said, grabbing a basket, "just in case."
And now the real trick was going to be figuring out the best way to surprise Hera with them, if radio didn't spoil the surprise first.

Not a literal hat, that would just be silly.
"Hey, there! Welcome to Turtle & Canary, let--"
She found the supposed customer.
...So many attractive new people all of a sudden, good god, why, notacomplaint...
"--me know if there's anything you need help finding."

"Fjord?" she asked. "You two planning a date?"
Well, balls. No way in hell she was even gonna try to compete with this level of pretty.

"Well, that's good," said Summer. "One cannot live on fish and coffee alone. That stuff's probably not much better, though, little more than sugar and preservatives and stuff. All the actual food'll be over there," she hitched her thumb over her shoulder, "the produce and the meat and dairy coolers. If anything over here, sounds like a good place might be just to start with good old peanut butter and jelly, that's a pretty quick and easy staple, if not very exciting. I mean, maybe it is. I could see peanut butter being pretty amazing if you've never had it before."

so she could wander into other common rooms, la la. It was time to stock up on a few things, but when she noticed the sign she had to ask, "Since when is caf a thing here?"no subject
Then she eyed the girl on a slightly less professional level. "You're from that," she waved her hand a little, "outer space, too, huh?"
She figured that was a broad enough way to ask about it.

Including one she still couldn't figure out.

She could think of someone else who should try not to think about that part too much, too, but he did seem to be working on it. Kind of. A little. Enough for her to not bust his balls about it too much.
"But that's cool! You know Kanan and Hera, then?"
God, Summer, not everyone from the same galaxy knew each other, geez.

"I'm their TA," she said. "And I get parts from Hera a lot of the time. How do you know them?"
no subject
"We go back a bit," Summer offered, with a faintly dopey grin that comes with nostalgia and memory. "I mean, as far as island time goes. Kanan's one of the first people I met from here, and Hera's just about one of the most amazing people I've ever met ever."
A little fangirling there? Maybe, shut up.
"Kanan's mentioned you, though, I think. Maybe not Hera, but we mostly just make fun of Kanan when we talk, so that's not so surprising. I'm afraid I don't recall your name, though? Mine's Summer, it's nice to meet you."
She may have been slightly disappointed, though, that this was The TA and not One of the Wanna-Be Bus Thieves.

And then she added, "I'm the one that fixed Kanan's hair."
She was going on a hunch that Summer would know what that meant.
no subject
What?
"Oh! Do you mean after when it was pink?"
Seriously, Sabine, you let him keep that ponytail?
Sure, it was better than the rattail, but...

"Summer?" she looked around for her and smiled. "What's a squishy, and does it really taste like meiloorun?"
no subject
But, well, this did save Summer a lot of trouble trying to think of something really big to surprise her with. There had been an inkling of a plan involving a butter robot.
There was no reason she couldn't still eventually use the butter robot, either.
"A Squishy," she informed Hera, "is a liquefied ice drink that comes from that machine right over there. But why settle for a meiloorun Squishy when you could haaaaave...." The drawn out word was from Summer's failed attempt to be smooth as she tried to reach for one of the ones she'd put away underneath the counter and grab one, but missed, and couldn't seem to locate one until she ducked her head underneath to fetch one.
The dramatic effect was kind of spoiled, but she was still going for it all-out. "When you could have an actual one instead!"
Ta-dah! Meiloorun produced and successful and held out in all its weird-ass space fruit glory.

"There's not much," she added as a small warning, "but hopefully it's just a start. I guess they're a bit harder to track down than caf is, so don't get too excited quite yet. There's a channel open now, though, so that's good."

Probably not, but Summer would happily take all the appreciative hugs she could get.
"It's, like, literally my job," she reminded Hera with a laugh, but, more sincerely, she added, "And you're welcome.
"There goes my plan to try to sneak into your apartment and fill all your cupboards with them for you to find later, though."

But hopefully...not. Summer had bad experiences with dogs gaining too much sentience, but it was hard to imagine Stance ever going as far with it as Snuffles did.
