Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty came in today and found the bar strangely quiet. The zombies were there, but not playing. At all.

"What do you mean they're on strike?"

Apparently until she stopped complaining about the country music, this was how it would be. She was fine with this, till a while later when she realized zombies just standing there on the stage was kind of creepy.

Rosa noticed the quiet first thing when she walked into the bar. It was kind of hard not to, and when she glanced to the stage to see that zombies weren't even playing, she looked vaguely impressed.

"I like the new direction the band is heading," she informed Kitty when she got to the bar.

Now if only the next direction they would take would be off the stage and out the door, it'd be perfect.

"If I'm being honest, it's freaking me out and I don't like it," Kitty greeted her. "But it's better than what they were doing."

Seivarden leaned against the bar, throwing a glance in the direction of the stage.

"Isn't there a band to replace them with?" she asked Kitty.

"So," Seivarden said, trying to come up with an opening line that neither betrayed that she had noticed Rosa hadn't showed up last week, nor mentioned the week before that.

"Quiet today."

She should probably stop trying to be funny.

"...yeah," Rosa admitted after a moment, glancing over her shoulder back at the band, still...just...standing there, "I can see where you're coming from there. At least having some customers might help it seem less...creepy?"

They were always creepy, anyway, so Rosa wasn't seeing much difference here.

"Yes. Thank you," she said. "It was kind of weird not having you around last week."

"If I replaced them, then what would I do with the unemployed zombies?" Kitty countered.

Yeah, she probably should.

But it still managed to get a snort out of Rosa all the same.

"Yeah," she said, sipping her beer as she glanced back again at the...creepy...standing...weird ass band. "Hey, you think their fingers finally fell off or something, that's why they can't play?"

She may have sounded a little too excited about that prospect, really.

"I..." Seivarden hesitated. "Aren't they dead?"

Seivarden wrinkled her nose. "I really don't want to know."

She drew a breath. "I'm not sure... I mean, someone should be paying for drinks."

"Which is exactly why it'd be so hard for them to find another job," Kitty said, totally sincerely.

"But if they're dead," Seivarden said, "Can't you just... destroy them?"

[throughaphase]

"I'm not destroying anyone that can run their own merchandise table," Kitty reasoned. "Sometimes people are dead, that doesn't mean they can't live their lives."

She also came from Marvel.

Upon advice from his friend, Hernando popped over to the mainland for a short visit to Rosalie and picked up a confection. Then he went to Caritas. Outside the door he took a breath. Reminded himself that his actions had hurt feelings and he had to own that. So he did.

He walked inside and went toward the bar. A confused glance was thrown at the zombies. Taking a seat at the bar he waited until he could catch Kitty's attention. The white bakery box was gently pushed toward her. "I would like to apologize. It had not been my intention to be insulting on the Tuesday I could not bring myself to stay and my actions were both rude and boorish. I'm sorry for them."

"Yeah?" Rosa's rueful smile was almost a little apologetic, and she shrugged. "Last week was...important for me to be home. But, hey, if it makes you feel any better, I still went out and got wasted, just at a different bar."

It had been a Five-Drink Amy kind of night. And they'd all needed it, too.

Kitty blinked at him.

"Wait, what?"

[hernando_fuentes]

Hernando lifted one shoulder slightly, "I came in once and did not stay, because I did not feel safe. I did not realize that one cannot get hurt here and treating the moment as though I might was unfair to you and your bar. So I apologize and bring you cake."

Blame Kaidan

"Kind of. As long as you remember that the other bar doesn't have The Diaz."

If it did, she would be hurt.

"Okay, Thanks," she said, still confused, but hey, free cake. "It's not really a cake-worthy offense. Or an apology-worthy offense, really, but I'll take it. Was it the zombies? Because they're harmless."

Hernando laughed softly, "I believe the friend who suggested it believed otherwise but he is also quite known for sometimes having a surplus of compassion."

"It was a personal matter, not the.." he glanced at the zombies, "..band. Though I find myself a little unnerved by them now. It was perhaps easier to watch them when they were playing music. Have they stopped for a reason?"

Seivarden opened her mouth. Eventually she said:

"Right. I'll have a beer, please."

Gonna just get right to it, huh? Well, no argument from Rosa there.

"Yeah," she agreed, "and that's you. I definitely won that week, and this one," she lifted her current bottle, "doesn't count, I've already paid for it."

She didn't know what kind of semantics they'd be working with here, but she definitely wasn't going to let Seivarden try to get away on the loser's part of the bargain with her first cheap starter beer of the night. And she'd been prepped for this for two weeks now, figuring that of course Seivarden would try to contest her victory on it.

It wouldn't be Seivarden if she didn't, right?

Seivarden gave her a look that said clearly that she didn't buy that. Or planned to buy anything.

"Care to explain how you won? Because you have some convincing to do."

[throughaphase]

"Sure," she said, going to get one. "So, hiwve you been?"

Don't think she hadn't seen the other week.

There was a surplus of compassion, and then there was confusing.

"They're on strike because I don't like their country music kick," she said. "Seriously, though, is everything okay? It's not every day a guy brings me baked goods because he's worried about safety in my bar."
