A Different Part of the Beach, Sunday
With advance warning from Bobby, Uma had managed to avoid her so-called guests for the weekend. She didn't know what the hell Ben and the Fairy Godmother wanted her for and, honestly? She didn't care. She wasn't at their beck and call anyway.
Though that whole 'tried in absentia' thing didn't sound all that promising. It fact, it had unsettled her enough that this morning when she'd woken up, she'd headed down to the beach and immediately dove into the water, spending most of the day swimming far below the ocean surface, letting the water calm and soothe her. By mid-afternoon, she was relaxed enough to contemplate getting out of the water and getting some lunch. Bobby had said that the Fairy Godmother wanted to be gone by this morning, right? She'd probably outlasted them, ha! Another win for Uma!
That feeling of triumph hadn't lasted much past surfacing the water and seeing both Auradonians waiting for her, the magic wand being held like a divining rod in the Fairy Godmother's hands.
"Ha! I knew this would find her!" the Fairy Godmother announced. "There you are, you little hooligan! Come out and face the music!"
Yeah, Uma was no dope. Immediately, she turned to dive back under the waves. But Fair Godmother's magic wand wasn't the most powerful magical artifact in the United States of Auradon for a nothing. Before she could even properly dive, she was surrounded by a bubble of shimmery, sparkly blue magic that pulled her up out of the ocean and deposited her right back onto the beach.
"I don't think so, missy," Fairy Godmother told her, looking prim and smug at the exact same time. "You're gonna stay in that bubble until you're back on the Isle where you belong!"
[Technically it's still Sunday! In other, not-me timezones, sure, but still! Open? For all the SP ever though]

"Ummm, I don't think so," he exclaimed, popping up from behind a rock. "She's already on the island she's supposed to be on!"
SO THERE.

"Yeah," Ben said, giving Bobby sad eyes. "You lied to us. Why would you do that?"
"Uma, daughter of Ursula's friends with liars and ne'er-do-wells, color me surprised."

So much side-eye, Ben. SO MUCH.

"You know, I've known a lot of runaways," he continued. Kind of came hand-in-hand with living at a school for mutants, funnily enough. "Most of them had pretty good reasons for running," he added pointedly.

"You were trying to avoid justice for your actions," the Fairy Godmother railed.
"My actions were all about trying to get justice!"

"Right, but I forgave her--"
"And then she brainwashed him with a lovespell at the party honoring his current girlfriend's ascension as a Lady of the Court!"
"That was kind of awful," Ben acknowledged.
"And then turned into a ship sized monster and tried to kill everyone onboard!"

Both Ben and the fairy godmother looked uncomfortable at that.
"But ruining the party? That was worth it just for the look on her face!"

"But at the end- you could have kept fighting if you really wanted to," Ben said. "But you didn't. You have me my ring back and swam away."

"You can't treat people on the Isle like you do and then be surprised when they get mad and try to strike back!" Bobby said, shaking his head.

"Oh, but Mal, Carlos, Evie, and Jay don't?" Uma sneered. "They get a pass, but the rest of us are screwed?"
"They proved their Goodness," the Fairy Godmother retorted. "You proved you're anything but!"

"Okaaaaay," Bobby said, still scowling at the Fairy Godmother. "So what did she do to end up on this Isle full of criminals in the first place?"
Was it 'she was born'? Bobby was going to be so mad if it was that.

"Beasty-Boy's dad thought it would be a great idea to round up all the Villain's that were left, resurrect the ones who weren't - like my mother - and ship 'em off to the Isle," Uma said, bitter. "She was there four years before I was born."

Getting all the good family history today, weren't you Bobby?

My goodness, the chill in the air was really getting rather more pronounced, wasn't it?
no subject
Even Ben looked askance at that.
