Caritas, Tuesday Evening
Kitty was still taking leave with her new little one, which meant that tonight could very well have been a Tino night.
Could have been, except that when Kanan made his way in to the bar looking for his usual juice fix, Tino actually made his way out from behind the counter, marched right up to Kanan, pressed his hands to the back of his shoulders, and manhandled him all the way back to behind the bar.
Kanan just kind of shrugged and rolled with it. He missed bartending, anyway. And besides, anything to help Kitty while she settled in to life with a baby.
Or, alternatively, yeah, sure, he'd act as a buffer for Tino from any potential Seivarden and Rosa flirting. He wasn't born yesterday, Tino. He was on to your plot.

"Evening."
no subject
Who needed a hello? It was totally implied.

She had been doing some research.
"Two absinthe," she told Tino.

"I did some research." A lot of research. "I've never tried it."
Tino placed two glasses in front of them.
no subject
"Is that your biggest take-away from your research?" she asked. "That you've never tried it? I bet you've never tried turpentine, either."
no subject
She raised the glass and sniffed the content.
"Have you tried it?"
no subject
Not unless she was barely out of high school and trying to be edgy.
no subject
She suspected Rosa would come up with some sarcastic comment to that.
"So..." She began, then threw back the drink, which resulted in a few coughs.

He didn't trust himself to.
"How've you been?"
no subject
She should be getting used to small talk with Kanan by now, shouldn't she?
no subject
Kanan raised his eyebrows a little.
"Well, a pair of teenagers took my ship for a joyride last week, so things have been eventful."
Small talk!
no subject
She added: "I'll have a beer."

"Low on fuel," Kanan sighed, "fine otherwise. Contemplated shaking both kids until their common sense kicked in, but that wouldn't have accomplished much. They're kids."
He paused, and added in turn, "Any preference?"
no subject
he would have got them to apologize, she was sure of that.
no subject
"One of them apologized to me, the other one went to Hera asking how to make up for the fuel they burned," Kanan replied. And yeah, he sounded a little surprised by that. "They're good kids. They're just good kids making bad choices."
He shrugged and grabbed Seivarden a bottle of something not terrible, opening it and sliding it her way.

...Kitty would understand. Kitty had met Rosa.
Kanan was way better than just Tino, though, so that was one good thing when she leaned against the new spot at the bar and asked, "So is this your new thing now until Kitty comes crawling back?"
no subject
He jerked a thumb toward Tino.
"This clown parked me behind the bar the moment I showed up, tonight. I figure I can live with that. He's a lousy bartender anyway."
Sorry, not sorry, Tino.
no subject
He hadn't gotten any dagger glares last week, not from her, at least, so Rosa was going to make sure she got them in while she was here tonight.
"Well," glare out of the way, her attention shifted back to the not-bartender bartender, "how about a beer, then?"
no subject
Kanan let her have her moment to glare - he could appreciate important tradition when he saw it - and then nodded toward the fridge.
"Sure. Any preference? Bottle or whatever's on tap?"
no subject
Who didn't love a good generic made-for-media brand on a Tuesday evening?
no subject
"Bottle of Heisler coming right up," Kanan replied, and a moment later that bottle was open and sitting in front of Rosa. Kanan was considering it thoughtfully, and then shrugging. Nah, he was good for now. "So, how are things?"
no subject
Pause.
"Probably glad you got your ship back."
no subject
Kanan looked faintly pained at the reminder of his ship, yes.
"Definitely glad I got my ship back. Thankful radio caught them out on it, too. Ending up stranded in the cold emptiness of space without fuel I could have sworn I had isn't my idea of a great time."
