What was a mutant to do two days before the New Year when his best friend back home was pissed off at him for skipping out on Christmas?
... Well, apparently the answer to that was to go in to work, sit at the counter, and spend most of his morning sending off texts to an irritated-because-she-was-worried Jubilee, dancing around little things like the current state of his living room and instead asking how Shogo was doing today.
It worked, nominally, in that now Jubilee was sending him pictures of the little guy in the pajamas that Jono had gotten him for Christmas, the ones with the hood with the teddy bear ears, and that mostly left Jono feeling even more guilty that he hadn't made it back with Alluka in tow, in spite of extenuating circumstances on both ends.
Family was bloody complicated. It was almost enough to make a man want to-- oh, no, there he went thumping his forehead on the counter anyway.
Ah, the holidays.
