Caritas, Friday Evening
Fjord came in to Caritas and settled behind the bar for his evening shift.
Tino just looked at him and nodded once, gravely.
...
Fjord squinted at him.
Tino shrugged.
Fjord shrugged back.
Sure. It was going to be a normal evening, then.
[OOC: They can't all have pasta, I guess. Open!]

"Evening," she said to Fjord, then glanced around. "What's happening tonight?"
no subject
"Well," Fjord drawled, "so far tonight I came in and I stepped behind the bar."
... Full stop.

Fjord gave his shoulder a shrug.
"Doesn't matter to me either way," he replied. "Someone pays for a beer, I serve a beer. That's what I'm here for."
Case in point, the way he was pouring a beer now.

"Jack will be Jack," Fjord replied with a dismissive shrug. "Free beer's free beer."
Though, perhaps, pride had something to do with it, too.
"My week's been uneventful. My class went well, all things considered. Work's been decent enough at the Forge. Yours?"

handwavily."She looked at Fjord.
"I suppose I shouldn't complain." She was perfectly able to complain.

"Oh good. It must be Friday if you're here. Can I get a whiskey please? It's been that kind of week. How've you been, Fjord?"
no subject
"That kind of week, hm?" Fjord looked faintly sympathetic as he poured her a whiskey. "Hopefully not for your nose this time around. I'm doing fine, myself. Why's your week been so off, mind if I ask?"

Fjord paused at that. Blinked.
"... Huh." A beat. "Maybe your Wednesday went wherever the fuck it is mine went the other week."

"Yours and mine both," Fjord sighed, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. "I look forward to my forge shifts. Where the hell else can I spend a day beating the shit out of things with a hammer and have people consider it honest work?"

She took another drink. "You talk to your roommate about Valentine's day sword fun yet?"

"Seivarden!" Jack called cheerfully and loudly enough that people on the mainland probably heard her, "Friendo! How the hell are you?"

"How's the day been treatin' you?"
no subject
"No complaints thus far," Fjord replied, shrugging. "No random food either, though. And here I'd been hoping for a free meal."
Couldn't win 'em all, Fjordie.

"Ale and company, and there's nothing stopping us from placing another order," Fjord replied. "My treat this time, really."
He was going to keep trying, dammit.

He was probably going to keep trying, after all, dammit.
