Caritas, Friday Evening
Fjord was taking a, 'one drink for the patrons, one drink for me' approach to bartending, tonight. Why? Stupid pride, mostly. Tino might have bet him that he didn't have the constitution to pull it off.
Fjord, meanwhile, having constitution but really lacking in the wisdom department, insisted that he had the constitution to pull anything off.
And Tino had put his money where his mouth was, declaring that if Fjord could get through the night without hitting the floor, he'd take zombie-repair-duty for the next month.
Fjord couldn't pass up an opportunity like that, could he?

, a black one with white paws, despite the icon, showed up, jumped up on to the bar and wrapped her tail around her legs. She stared at Fjord as if she was expecting something.[Seivarden the cat is mostly here to unintentionally torment Fjord. Feel free to notice her but pings will be very slow.]

"I'm still too fucking sober for this," he muttered to himself, taking a few steps backwards, away from the bar.
And then he sneezed.

A paw reached down and tried to pick up a drink decoration.

"Hey, what are you doing with that? No, that's not for cats," Fjord protested. "Tino? Would you get that cat out from behind the bar?"
Tino was just standing back and looking amused. Fjord was tempted to spray him with the seltzer.

Fjord watched her go, squinting a little, and then, after he was pretty sure the last of the sneezing had passed, looked toward Tino.
"Thanks."
Jackass.

And ale.
The bartender wasn't half so bad, either.
"'Evening, Fjord," she said, taking what was becoming a usual seat now thanks to that routine and habit. "How's the beer-slinging business been treating you today?"

"So far, I've... not so much served a cat as sneezed at the fucking thing until it left," Fjord reported, looking only faintly miserable as he resisted the urge to scratch his nose. "Beyond that, it's been a slow night. How're you doing tonight, Amaya? In looking for an ale?"

"Allergies," Fjord muttered. "Should be better so long as the fucking cat stays gone."
Otherwise he'd have to scruff the damn thing and toss it back out. And that wouldn't be a great time for either of them.
"So long as that doesn't happen..." He shrugged, and then poured an ale for each of them. His bet with Tino was still going strong, dammit. "You've got me curious about this new project of yours."

It was the least she could do, really.
But the grin was back easily after her newfound dedication to the sudden position of Temporary Cat Chaser. "I will say it's thematic," she offered with a tone of conspiracy, "but that's all I'll say on it, because I think this one's best left until it's finished for the full effect."

"Well, then the suspense between now and Wednesday is going to definitely have time to build," Fjord replied, breaking into a little grin. "Thematic, you say?"
That... didn't actually narrow it down much for him. Thematic to what?

Just like some of the other details about the project...like how exactly anyone could even effectly use it. There were just some bridges Amaya didn't bother crossing until she got to them; made things a little more exciting that way, really.

He didn't even like ale, but a bet was a bet.
"To new projects."
no subject
A sentiment to which she would be drinking to very deeply and enthusiastically.

because what even was today ughand took her usual seat."Fjord, man," she said, eyeing Tino dubiously (was there any other way, really?), "the fuck is going on here tonight?"
no subject
So, that was eventful.
You know. If he'd sold more than one ale tonight, it might even be a challenge.

"This is my fucking moment then, isn't it?" She smacked the bar. "Keep 'em coming, and don't say I never did anything for you."
Beau. No.

Still, he gave an amused snort and reached for a glass. Then another.
"Any preference?"
