The Beach - Tuesday morning

It was a nice day. Well above freezing, no snow or rain in the forecast. Fenris decided to go for a walk down the beach, near the docks. Every so often, he checked to see if there were actual boats at the dock.

No reason. Certainly he didn't have plans to.. borrow.. one. Today, like every other day he'd checked, the docks were empty and the beach was..

Wait, no. This was definitely not like every other day. Thousands of scallops had washed up on the beach, steaming and opened. The air was perfumed with the scent of baked mollusk.

Fenris nearly gagged.

Still, it wasn't rotting seafood. This was definitely a 'you are supposed to eat these' scent. Not that he'd be eating any of them. He didn't like seafood of any sort. After a moment of observation, it looked like they'd washed up and the rocks of the beach had heated under them, baking them in their shells. A quick check of the pebbles showed them to now be warm but not hot.

Facepalming a little, Fenris dug a nylon shopping bag out of his pouch and shook it open. He began plucking choice scallops from the rocks and depositing them into the bag.

A certain roommate of his loved seafood and it was his class day. The class that regularly gave him a headache. Fenris could bring him a surprise lunch.

[Open! National baked scallop day GUESS WHAT I'M MAKIN' FOR DINNER! nom!]

Seivarden wasn't here to look for ships, as the kind she'd be interested in wasn't likely to be found here anyway. Still, it was a nice day for a walk, especially if you had spent the past few days inside, watching entertainments.

Was someone cooking seafood? It didn't smell bad, she liked seafood and followed the smell until she saw Fenris.

Seivarden stopped, trying to decide whether to just leave ot attempt some kind of interaction with Fenris.

[I hope SP is ok?]

"I'm fine," Seivarden said, taking a few steps closer to the water. "And yourself? Are those edible?"

Seivarden hesitated a bit. Random cooked food didn't sound that appetising, but they did smell nice, so she picked one up and examined it.

"You don't?"

"I see."

Seivarden decided not to comment on the doing nice things for Fjord, as anything she might say would probably result in some snarky comment, and she didn't have the patience for that.

Fenris was also very high on the list of people who might send her a sword, and the fact that she might never know put her in a slightly annoyed mood.

"I suppose something weird had to happen this week," she said, still examining the scallop.

"Not that I've noticed," Seivarden said, with a shrug. "Not a seafood fan, then?"

"Yes, but I'm also suspicious of food just appearing out of nowhere," Seivarden said. "Like those noodles showing up at Caritas one night."

She made a face.

"Oh," Seivarden said, smiling. "Too much of a good thing?"

Some things she just didn't want to know. Fjord eating those noodles was one of them.

Seivarden decided to change the topic.

"Talking about Fjord, did he tell you he promised to show me how that sword someone gave me should be used."

She guessed Fenris had a good poker face but it was worth s try. He was high on the list, after all. Fjord might not have phrased the offer quite line that but it wasn't too far from the truth.

"Exactly. Someone gave me a sword, probably knowing I don't like them. And Fjord won't tell me who it is."

At the mention of Jack she smirked.

"Oh, I'm sure she was."

"Yeah, that's why I'd prefer to know. It's not line someone sent it for romantic reasons."

Seivarden made a gesture with her hand.

"I know he can't, but you can't blame me for asking."

"I'm equally baffled," Seivarden said dryly.

"As for secrets,I told Rosa myself when I heard she was harassing Amaya about it. It wasn't worth that. And Fjord wants to stick to the policy, I'm not going to blame him for that, but I'm sure he can deal with being asked about it."

"Are you trying to say I should harrass Fjord to get some results or that you think I will?"

Seivarden sighed and let the scallop drop to the ground.

"I just said I asked him because I'm just as baffled as you."

"Not sure," Seivarden said. "It's good craftsmanship, although I think Amaya would be a little sad if I only used it for decoration."

She shrugged.

"I've been toying with the idea of trying to use it, that's why I asked Fjord about it. But maybe I'll just give it to someone who appreciates it."

"Thank you for the offer. I'll think about it."

Since asking Fjord had mostly been using the sword as an excuse to get a nice view - yes, she was that bored - adding Fenris and Jack sort of ruined it. She was now leaning towards returning the sword to Amaya.

Fjord should have thought about that before giving Seivarden a sword. Or more importantly said no to her when she asked.

Seivarden wasn't going to spar with Jack, under any circumstance.

"Thank you," she said, adding after a brief pause: "I'll leave you to your food gathering."

Seivarden smiled, gave a small nod in response, and turned, leaving Fenris with the scallops.
