"Turn off the news, I'm depressed enough as it is."

Atton waved at Tino, who was holding up his phone, watching some news broadcast about a mysterious disease breaking out somewhere on the mainland. Whatever. "Bet it's just those karking anti-vaxxers again, come on."

He waved his hand, ripping the phone out of Tino's hand. He shut off the stream, then tossed the phone back.

"Ah, blessed peace."

Caritas was open.

See Sparkle. See Sparkle deposit his ass in one of the stools at the bar, grumbling and thumping his forehead against the counter.

"I know I bitch about this like all the time, but managing a business is stupid," he announced.

Also, hi, Atton!

"Now what'd who do, and how much do they need to be gutted?" Atton greeted back, looking up from the bar. "...And how much alcohol do you need?"

Sparkle leaned back, next, almost listing backwards there in his stool.

"Just carry me home," Sparkle muttered. "One of my big spring orders went missing, and dispatch has no idea where the hell the driver went with it."

"So I'll break open the whiskey?" Atton offered. "Unless you want a cocktail or something."

[myownface]

"... Both? Is both a thing I can have? Do you know any whiskey cocktails? Does that sound like a life choice I shouldn't be making?"

Did Sparkle care?

Apparently not, because he was giving Atton puppy eyes and grabby hands.

Atton racked his brain for a moment. "...How's a Scotsman Colada sound? It's like a pina colada, but with whiskey."

"That name is ridiculous and should be ashamed of itself," Sparkle declared. And then grinned. "Gimme. It's perfect."

"Thought you'd like it," Atton said brightly, ducking behind the counter to find the Black Grouse and the Coco Lopez. "I've got a 'weird names cocktails book' I have to throw at you sometime."

[myownface]

"You realize if I get my hands on that book, I'll probably start a holy quest to sample everything in it at least once, right?"

Sparkle had to check. Not that he thought for a second that Atton would figure otherwise.

"Oh no," Atton deadpanned. "I might have to mix more drinks, I hate mixing drinks, it's not like I volunteered to get paid to mix drinks."

Sparkle just laughed a little at that.

"I mean, sure," he replied, "but you also get to, like, live with my drunk ass."

It was a trade-off, right?

"You're hilarious when you're drunk in a way I can blackmail you with later," Atton said, waving that off as he got all the drink's components lined up.

[myownface]

"You say," Sparkle replied, grinning, "like I have aaaany shame."

Was he leaning forward to watch Atton mix the drinks? You bet Sparkle was leaning forward to watch Atton mix those drinks!

Atton rolled his eyes, but he shut the shaker dutifully and gave it a good shake. Maybe even tossed it up too-high into the air, let it do a little wiggle before it landed back in his hands.

He tossed some ice into the glass while the shaker was up in the air, and as soon as he caught the thing, he poured the glass. With a nimble move that was all just card player's trick, he produced a lime and slapped it onto the rim.

He shoved it towards Sparkle. "Eh, maybe that just means we haven't found the right cocktail yet."

See? And now Sparkle's day was already one cocktail and a show better.

"The right cocktail to make me do something I'll actually be embarrassed about? I mean, I'm still way too sober to think of anything really good that'll do it, Atton."
