Caritas- Tuesday

On weeks like this one, Kitty was the safest person in town. She'd actually considered bringing Lexi with her, just to feel better having an eye on her, but decided it'd be better to not draw attention to her. Besides, when something tried to attack Kitty and just couldn't, it was kinda funny, but it'd likely freak out a seven-month-old.

She figured it'd be a quiet night, but like she'd said on radio, at least it was safe here. The bar had held up pretty well, even if the storage room was pretty picked over, but there was the sanctuary spell, and Kitty had some supplies here in case anyone needed any basic medical attention. Also the Art Deco look kind of worked.

She wasn't sure about the Plasmi-Quik chair thing in the back room, though.

Fact: Unless he was meditating, Kanan couldn't sit still for three damn seconds in a crisis situation.

Also Fact: It was Tuesday.

It was with a blaster in one hand and a lightsaber in the other that Kanan arrived at the bar tonight, looking faintly harried, not quite able to shake the crawling feeling that this place seemed to be infused with, top to bottom.

"So," he said, by way of conversation, "if one of those crazed sleemos comes in here and the sanctuary spell goes off, do you suppose it leaves them stranded out in the ocean?"

Since the park seemed to be missing a pond this week, that seemed reasonable.

Not that Kanan was quietly hoping for it.

"Better than out back in the alley," Kitty considered. "Did you really come in here like normal?"

She loved you, dude, but what.

[uncertain_dume]

Kanan holstered his blaster and guttered his blade, clipping the lightsaber to his belt, still whole.

"I was out anyway," he replied. "I feel... not great about this place," there was an understatement, "but just staying at home and waiting for trouble to find me wasn't sitting well, either. At least this way I can hang around in case anyone ducks in needing sanctuary and offer people armed escorts home. Make myself useful, you know?"

"Makes sense. It's basically why I'm out, too," Kitty admitted. Though I really hope most people are staying in."

But, Fandom.

Kanan gave a soft laugh and a shake of his head at that.

"I stressed the importance of staying in out of it or at least having someone around to watch their back both on radio and in class yesterday, and I'm willing to place bets on half of the population of the island being out and about alone even before tomorrow's... whatever it is that Skywalker is going to throw at us."

... Et tu, Jarrus?

"You mean like us," Kitty said brightly. "I'm so curious what tomorrow will be."

"I mean like us," Kanan agreed, smiling sheepishly. "No clue what tomorrow will be. Singalong day? Arts and crafts? There's nowhere to catapult Beaker to that won't result in broken glass and everybody drowning, so that can't possibly be it."

Though, honestly, Beaker would probably find some way to do the same thing during a singalong, too...

"We... should probably find something for Beaker to do indoors," Kitty said carefully. That poor kid. "Hopefully it's all inside, actually."

"At this rate, we could stick the kid in a full suit of armor and give him a personal ray-shield and he'd still find a way to set himself on fire," Kanan sighed, shaking his head. "It's just that I get a little nervous on Wednesdays when our continued survival depends on maintaining the structural integrity of... the everything."

Everything.

[throughaphase]

"I'm going with the thought that if the bomb in the park didn't kill us, we can get through this week," Kitty said, firmly.

She might worry about Nina and Wayne every time, but!

"I do think Wednesdays tend to be a good distraction, and I don't think Anakin wants us all dead, either."

[uncertain_dume]

"Oh, he would absolutely pitch me out an airlock if he could get away with it," Kanan said immediately.

... He was reasonably certain this was even true.

"But probably not everyone."

He was less reasonably certain that was true.

[throughaphase]

"His wife would be pissed," Kitty reasoned. She'd met Rory.

"If she found out," Kanan pointed out, shrugging. "She has to find out, first."

Pushing Kanan out an airlock in secret would be kind of the perfect crime, right?

"Squirrels," Kitty pointed out.

"Rum," Kanan sighed.

Those squirrels were crooked and could totally be bought.

"This island is dumb," Rosa pronounced, taking a moment to place her gun, her blaster, her knife, and another larger knife out of their respective pockets and hiding spots and onto the bar so that she could sit more comfortably. "Why am I still here?"

It was...mostly a rhetorical question. She had a few theories, and all of them were stupid, but Kitty was smart. Maybe she knew a less stupid answer.

"Habit?" Kitty answered, looking down at the bar. "Wow."

Rosa considered that answer, trying to decide if it was better or worse than what she'd come up with.

Better. Definitely better. She was taking it.

And then also looking down at her small arsenal, and she shrugged. "Can't be too careful."

Rosa, you had to go across the street.

But she was still sort of in patrol mode, anyway. She was pretty much expecting to be on patrol mode all week.

"I was on the fence about bringing an axe."

"At what point do you run out of room?" Kitty wondered.

And Rosa considered that, too, her head tilting slightly, seeing if she could think of any instances where she had to actually put anything back.

"Usually when it comes to the swords," she admitted, "or the bigger guns. But, you know, those are usually for...special occassions."

"I both want to see how this goes, and never want to have to," Kitty decided.

"That makes two of us," Rosa allowed. She did have a lot of weapons, Kitty.

"How are you holding out through all this, anyway?" she asked. "I don't mean just this this week, with this stupid underwater adventure crap, but just...in general. With everything changing so much. And, you know, the baby and everything. How's she doing?"

"If it was just me and Clint, it'd be no big deal," Kitty said slowly. "I had this whole thing like ten years ago where I cycled through different universes, that's fine. Having Lexi around makes me nervous and I feel like the first time this stuff affects the house I'm taking her back home until it's not terrifying again."

"That's probably not a bad idea," Rosa nodded, wondering if maybe doing that before things got ot that point might be a better one, but around here, it always did seem to be kind of a 'wait and see what happens' kind of deal.

"And at least there seems to be...sort of breaks. Last week was....mostly fine."

"Last week was great for me," Kitty said. "And I mostly liked the dinosaurs. I maybe have pictures of Lexi with some of the little plant-eaters. She was phased, I'm not terrible."
