Caritas, Sunday

There were an unnecessary amount of rainbow-colored flowers around Caritas. No amount of grumping from Atton aboud how Pride had been yesterday could stop them from spreading.

Eventually, he gave up. Pulled up a stool and sat down, crossing his arms at them.

Whatever. He didn't care.

He was fine.

"Oh look," Karina said, breezing in and acting as if she hadn't been looking for him. "There you are."

A beat.

"What did the flowers do to you?"

"They're getting in my personal space," Atton said, maturely, from several feet away from them.

"How old are you again?" Karina wondered, amused, meandering up to take a seat at the bar. "They're cute."

Not fashionable, but cute.

[suitably_heroic]

"They're a day late, and they're invading my place of business," Atton muttered. "... Also welcome, blah blah, what's your poison, what are you doing here?"

"Just a club soda," she said mildly, not at all put-off by his grumbling. "And, what, can't I just come see you idiots?"

"Not with that kind of attitude," Atton grumbled, but he got up off his stool to go grab the correct soda. "Sparks should be around..." he waved vaguely, "Somewhere."

"I'll find him," Karina said dismissively. "He's not the only idiot I came to see, Atton."

[suitably_heroic]

Atton blinked for a split second, then shrugged it off. "Guess you found me," he said, "Sitting in a bar, wondering where the karking hell all the flowers came from."

"The kind of boring life you always dreamed of?" Karina asked, amused. "Would have thought you'd be happier if that's the case."

[myownface]

Were you going to get a flying tackle the moment Sparkle meandered into the bar, Karina? You bet your blue rose bottom you were.

"AAAAAH."

Incoming Sparkle!

And, sure, Karina could have shoved him off of her or tried to evade that, but where would the fun of that be?

Especially when she could just give a shrieking laugh, instead, as he tackled her.

"Sparkle!"

"Karina!" Sparkle gave a delighted little laugh, grinned, and bounced a little as he... basically hugged the crap out of her for a few moments more, there. "Hey! What brings you to the island? Here for the rainbows or the weddings or just to get out of the city for a bit or did you miss me?"

Everybody missed Sparkle, right?

"I thought I'd check in on my boys," Karina said, hugging him back, and then flicking him on the arm, just because too much affection made her feel kind of embarrassed. "Of course I missed you, you jerk!"

[myownface]

"That's meeee," Sparkle laughed, leaning back and grinning as he let her free again. "A big stinking jerk. How have you been? How's the big city treating you?"

He missed 'the big city,' dang it.

Sweet, blessed, freedom! Karina grinned up at him.

"You should come visit me," she said, since he should. "And it's been--it's been busy, but great. I've got a full-length album coming out in two months, so everything's a madhouse."

[myownface]

"Sounds like it," Sparkle replied, blinking. "Are you doing a tour or anything to go with it? Oh! Oh! Do you need costuming??"

"I don't need it," she said, since two months to launch and Karina was a stickler for detail, but... "But if you want to look over everything and give your opinion, that'd be great?"

[myownface]

"Aaaatton heeeelp people I know got married todayyyy and it was cuuuuute." Sparkle was oozing into a seat at the bar and making a thoughtful look at the flowers. "... Also, I like the decor."

He would!

"It's the island's idea, and it's late," Atton grumbled from behind the bar. "I'm writing a sternly-worded letter to the organiser."

[myownface]

"I'm sure said organizer will take that letter very seriously," Sparkle replied, giving a solemn nod of his head. "Totally. For sure."

Depended on how good the drinks were tonight, maybe.

Atton rolled his eyes. "I can tell when you're sassing me, you know," he said, like it was a complete surprise that Sparkle was doing so. "Space, you're in a good mood."

Atton was a coat of grumpy over a core of 'don't know', but that wasn't new.

"I mean, yesterday wasn't a disaster. Any event I organize that is not a disaster and doesn't end in somebody trying to shoot me or something is a definite win," Sparkle pointed out. "... But I'm exhausted and am gonna need about fifteen layered drinks tonight."

"How about you tell me which one you wanna start with and then you can collapse on my bar?" Atton offered, looking up at the flowers.

[myownface]

Sparkle pursed his lips, considering.

"I want one with all the colours of that flower," he said, pointing at a particularly vibrant one. "Don't care what it is, make it girly and sparkly, and I will be set."

Until it was gone.

"I'll even thrown in some edible glitter for you," Atton sighed, trudging over towards the drinks. "I'm just saying, if I get a little more of this rainbow across this bar, I'm gonna develop a pollen allergy and I'm going to call oppression as a straight guy."
