Caritas- Tuesday

It took Kitty twenty minutes to get here, and she didn't like that far away. At first she thought she was just distracted, or tired, but then she decided it felt more like one of those dreams where you needed to be somewhere but couldn't actually get there.

So that was a cool and fun thing that was happening today!

She got to work a little late and started setting up. Tino wasn't in, which meant she figured he wouldn't get here. Which was bad for her, since the drummer lost his arm again and now she had to be the one to put it back on. Maybe he could play without...?

"Think we're in for something worse than this?" Kitty asked. "And do you want anything in particular tonight?"

[filleauloup]

"Something in pretty colors, perhaps, since we can appreciate them this week?" Éponine said thoughtfully. "Sangria, there we go, that sounds nice. And who knows? It's silly to expect things not to get worse, the way the last few weeks have gone."

[throughaphase]

"It's so hard to tell," Kitty said as she started pulling ingredients. "Sometimes you're just in black and white, sometimes it's fine until people grow claws."

[filleauloup]

"Better to be relieved than disappointed, in any case, don't you think?" asked Éponine. "It's certainly been interesting, though. How has Lexi been handling all of this? I suppose she doesn't notice quite so many of the changes, but I imagine she picks up on a bit at least?"

[throughaphase]

"I've kept her mostly out of it, so she hasn't noticed a ton," Kitty admitted. "She loved the dogs talking, the black and white confused her... I feel like her not knowing where she's trying to get to might cause some tantrums."

[filleauloup]

Éponine winced a bit at the thought.

"Don't suppose she's at an age where she's willing to stay in one place for very long, either, is she?"

That might have made things slightly easier.

[throughaphase]

"She's in the process of becoming terrifyingly mobile," Kitty said with a sigh. "Which is fine! Good for her! I'm very proud. But she's going to hate this."

[filleauloup]

"Don't we all," Éponine said with a wry laugh, "but I expect her more than the rest of us, really. Though maybe it's just as well you can't really explain it to her, either."

She couldn't imagine that would go over well at all.

[throughaphase]

"Well, I try. Which is how she's going to grow up thinking the weirdest stuff is normal."

To be fair, she'd think that if they lived in either Clint or Kitty's universes.

[filleauloup]

"You can walk through solid objects," Éponine felt the need to point out again, "and that's not the strangest thing to be said about your world, so that was going to be the case for her no matter what. Well, there won't be much that throws her for a loop, that's for certain."

Well, maybe too much normalcy.
