Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was going to be unapologetically clingy for a while, which was why Lexi came to work with her today, at least until bedtime.

Which was turning out to be a challenge! She couldn't mix drinks with Lexi in the carrier (because Lexi kept grabbing the drinks) and she'd finally set her down on the bar for a while before she just started pulling glasses towards her.

So now she was working with Lexi on her hip, asking, "Okay, what is this. Do I need to worry about you?"

"Look at her," Regina said as she came in, spotting Lexi. "Isn't she just the cutest!" She smiled at them both. "Feeling a little overprotective?"

"She's staying right with me all the time until she goes to college," Kitty confirmed. "This is Lexi. Lexi, this is Regina."

Lexi didn't really process that, but she was paying attention.

"Nice to meet you, Lexi," Regina said, giving a tiny curtsy (some habits died hard). "I have a --" She paused with a blink, not sure exactly how to describe her relationship to Emma Swan's daughter. What word did you use for the daughter of your son's other mother, who happened to be your step-granddaughter? "-- niece around your age."

Someone was talking to her, so Lexi babbled something in response.

"I'm sure whatever she said was fascinating," Kitty said.

"Of course it was!" Regina said. She was great with children when she wasn't evil. She flashed Lexi a wink (not that Lexi knew what that meant) and turned her gaze to Kitty. "How are you holding up?"

She could guess at least a little, considering the little one glued to Kitty's side.

"Better. I got the breakdown out the first night it was all over, and now she's glued to me," Kitty answered. "How are you doing?"

Regina waved her hand. "I've been hit by worse curses. As long as I've got my magic, I'm okay."

"You know," Kanan mused as he made his way into the bar, "here I was going to come in and order my usual, but I don't know if this new bartender knows how to fix my drink."

He gave a little grin toward Lexi. Hiii, tiny human.

"Hey, Kitty. Hey, Lexi."

Lexi made a vague "ba" sound of hello.

"I'm clingy. I may have to start paying her to work here if I just keep bringing her in," Kitty said.

"Well, I doubt any of your regulars will take issue with keeping her company at least until you've got the urge to cling out." A beat. "She seems relatively untraumatized, at least."

He was... reasonably sure. He didn't know babies so well, no.

"I think so? I'm hoping she's too little to really get what happened but we're very aware of the therapy we're going to have to put her in someday," Kitty said.

So. Much. Therapy.

"... Maybe she'll just grow up thinking all this insanity is normal," Kanan offered, though he sounded more than a touch dubious about that.

"In some ways, that worries me more," Kitty said. "This girl's going to get this from all sides."

"You know," said Rosa, when she got to the bar, "I know the drinking age laws in this town are a little lax, but I think this might be pushing it."

Because normal greetings were for nerds.

"She's not drinking, she's totally bartending. Which is also probably totally legal here, who knows," said the person who ran the bar.

"I'd offer to check the official bylaws on it," said Rosa, "but you know I'm not going to do that. I have to say, though, I honestly don't think I've ever been served by a baby before."

"First time for everything," she said. "What would you like?"

"Since it's her first day and everything," Rosa decided, "I'll go easy on her and just have a beer for now."

Kitty set Lexi on the bar. "All right, Lex, get the lady a beer."

Lexi slapped the bar top like she was going to start scooting herself forward, then decided better of it.

"Hello, Lexi," Steve said. "Mixing drinks today?"

Lexi sort of flailed at him.

"We tested her out but bartending is not her strong suit," Kitty said. "She's assisting, mostly by grabbing stuff."

Steve laughed. "Glass stuff? Bad idea, Lexi."

"Yeah, I didn't think about this too clearly," Kitty frowned. "It's been a long week, and we're leaning things today."

"It was an extremely long week," Steve agreed. "Can I have a water, please?"

"I know you don't get drunk but your vice is water?" Kitty asked.
