Caritas, Sunday
Hey, newbie weekend! A joyous and profitable occasion for Caritas as new underage kids found out they could legally drink at this establishment!
... Atton wasn't thinking about that much at all. Atton was behind the bar with a bunch of plastic take-out pitchers sitting next to him. Atton was... making cocktails.
Very large batches of cocktails. He was on a mission - to head out sometime during his shift to go drop them off with Sparkle.
Anyone entering the establishment had about even odds of encountering Tino instead.

Re: The Bar
It was hard to imagine it could be any worse.
"Excuse me," she said, reaching the bar and trying to grab the attention of one of the bartenders, straightening her uniform jacket, adjusting her gloves. "Do you have any..." What was it called, that Fleet Capt--...Breq had said the squirrels liked? "...rum?"
Yes, that was it.
Re: The Bar
"This is a bar," he said, reaching for the rum. "So yes, we have rum, congratulations, good job, you came to the right place."
Re: The Bar
"Thank you," she said, settling herself onto a barstool. "I just heard of it for the first time yesterday, so I wasn't sure."
Re: The Bar
He filled up a glass. "In which case I can't be held responsible for the results."
Re: The Bar
"I don't even know what skittles is."

Re: The Bar
Sparkle was important to her. He'd been Kaidan's friend, sure. One of the names on his list and that had been the only reason she'd given him the time of day in the beginning. Their friendship had nothing to do with that. It had grown on its own because Sparkle had marched into her life like a cat and just.. been there for her. She wasn't good at this, she'd never really made a friend in any sort of normal fashion before but.. well, there it was. Sparkle was her friend and someone who didn't want anything at all from her except for her to be his friend. Which, conversely, meant that she'd give him anything he needed. Right now, he needed his people.
Atton was the primary person in Sparkle's life. If she was this juked up about what was coming down the pipe, he had to be about ready to chew iron and spit nails. There was no question that he'd be there. She couldn't even imagine that as a possibility, which meant Atton would be there, and so would she, and her bullshit couldn't be there. Not for this, not for Sparkle.
So she stared at a wall for awhile. And then she got up and went to Caritas. Took a seat at the bar and looked at Atton making enough cocktails to drown a city with. "Toronto?" She figured that was the reason he was distracting himself.

"That much alcohol's gonna take his mind off breathing," Jack noted clinically, "Distractions though, you think?" She had shit-all idea what to do for him. Her regular option was the worst one possible and she'd known that even if Sparkle hadn't come out and said it.

Hernando went to the bar to see Atton. Sparkle sometimes pulled this 'I don't want to bother him' thing and after their last conversation, Hernando was only too well aware that it was no bother at all to Atton. In essence, he was low-key checking in to make sure his boyfriend hadn't done something dumb like not talking to Atton.
Clearly not the case. "Hello Atton. Sparkle told you about it?"

Hernando sighed and rubbed his forehead, "And that is better than him sitting in your apartment as a lump on the couch and deflecting anytime you prod him about it. Good. He made the call." Rubbed his forehead again, "I've accepted a guest lecturer position in Toronto. It's an open-ended contract but it comes with a townhouse. An address in Toronto that's not transient. It has a second bedroom for you. Unless you want other arrangements. But it's there. I'll commute back and forth to the island but I thought it would be a good idea to establish that residence and that tie before this.. begins."

She looked around, then nodded politely to Atton. "Have there been any new students in here today, other than that other girl?"
Re: The Bar
Of course, that breath didn't end until after he'd said the thing.
Re: The Bar
Lana sighed. "Hopefully they'll show up soon."
