Parents' Weekend Brunch, Sunday

The glittering of the park continued as everything was set up for a nice brunch, so everyone could have one last chance to hang out with their relatives, have a few more awkward introductions, and make people eat some more strange Earth food.

Pancakes, at least, had to be pretty universal, right?

So, Vette... you know. Didn't have any visitors after all, this week. Which she was fine with! Completely well and truly fine! The gang had important work to do back on Nar Shaddaa. Taunt had even given her a holocall saying that they'd gotten the relic without a hitch and it was en route to a Twi'lek museum where their people could appreciate a part of their history, as was right!

That was all great!

... She was maybe slinking around the brunch today looking a bit like a cranky blue ghost all the same. She was totally here just to steal some pancakes.

Feeling incredibly frustrated and annoyed with the fact that her Captain only seemed to put forth an effort on something when it was inconvenient for her and absolutely contrary to what he should be doing, Nanao came to this thing with absolutely no intention of eating (although she would probably grab a bite or two because keeping a stern and professional veneer over seething fury and irritation could work up an appetite), she was merely trying to track Shunsui down. She knew he was around, she could sense him (a benefit to being the only Shinigami on the island), she just didn't know exactly where...

This stack of papers in her arms weren't going to sign themselves, Shunsui!

In lieu of holding office hours, Karolina was here, wearing a name tag that said FH GUIDANCE COUNSELOR Karolina Dean. It also had a small rainbow sticker on there this time, too.

Instead of staying cooped up at the school, she could be here looking cheerful and approachable! And also, she could enjoy brunch stuff, so, everyone won.

Duke had left Nathan to sleep in this morning (with a note and some instructions on how to properly brew coffee, dammit so he wouldn't panic when he woke up and Duke wasn't around), and headed across town for a walk.

And, well, when he ended up wandering by the brunch, he had to stop and talk to his supposed femme!twin.

"Good morning," he greeted.

. . . Yeah, he still didn't see it.

Kennedy could've just stayed home in New York today, honestly, but she figured she might as well make one more official appearance for the weekend, and might as well be the one with food, too.

She . . . might have been on the lookout for any potential new clients, too; Chao-Ahn had sent her word about a couple of Slayers she'd found who didn't want the demon-fighty gig, and might need a job, so Kennedy was already trying to figure out where she could place them.

She grabbed three and put them in her mouth whole, one at a time, shell and all.

And Tisarwat, who'd managed to lose the Translator yesterday but had secretly been hoping she'd just gone, arrived at the brunch just in time to catch those eggs being eaten whole and feeling slightly nauseated over it

Free food? Hell yeah, free food, so Beau was absolutely here to take advantage of that shit.

And, yes, occasionally shoving another strip or two of bacon into her pockets.

Honestly, between the pocket bacon and the sheer amount of food she had piled on her plate, it made for a really weird contrast with her monk's robes. Sure, the Cobalt Soul had never been the most ascetic of orders, but still . . .

There was at least one table that was going to be particularly rowdy and loud, as it would be a table stuffed with four teenage boys, (and a couple of groupies girls) on their last day together on the island, with way too much food between the lot of them and a surprising amount of energy for not having done a whole lot of sleeping the whole time.

It would catch up with them eventually, but, for now, the Insomnia boys (and their groupies friends) were still riding pretty strong on that friendship high.

"Beeeeaaaannns?" groaned Noctis, looking down at his plate that had obviously been switched with someone else's, because he knew for a fact that he did not go near any beans, because everyone knew beans were the worst. But, thankfully, he had a chance to switch out his plate with Gladio's without Gladio even noticing.

Yeah, the weekend had definitely taken a turn for the better for Katy, who knew it would have been a good idea to get in good with Nina, which lead to getting in good with the group of guys she'd been eyeing since day one. She'd squeeze in a little more time with Wayne later, before she left, of course, but come one, they spent plenty of time together, and meeting new people was important! And the blonde one and the prince had sort of this argueably smarter and cuter Reilley-and-Jonesy thing going on between them, and of course she would be all down for that.

She was a little worried about Wayne sitting all by himself, though, and was planning on going over there eventually to cheer him up, but it looked like he did get some company eventually, so she wasn't going to be too urgent about it.

Wayne was not having a particularleh good weekend, if you asked him. It was nice seeing Katy and all, but then yesterday, she had to go run off with Nina and now she was hanging out with her and the skid kid's friends, and he didn't really care for that. Wasn't suprirsed, just didn't care fer it. And then meeting Shuri's incredibly impolite cow of a brother hadn't gone well, either. So he might have been in a stern sort of a sulk as he got himself some breakfast and went to go sit somewhere by himself.

He'd have skipped it, mebbe, but breakfast was the most important meal of the day...even when it was brunch...and he needed to keep an eye on Katy, besides.

Rosa and Oscar had made a deal that if Oscar left Rosa alone for most of the day yesterday and didn't go poking around too much, then Rosa would agree to the brunch with him on Sunday. Which was actually kind of nice, because they both got their food and sat down and started eating in complete but companionable silence...just like the good old days.

Octavia didn't care if it was predictable. If there was free food, you took advantage of it until there wasn't any left. And in the meantime, you could quietly watch the crowd. Which was what Octavia was doing while she ate.

Under a table were two little porgs, curiously pecking at half a pancake that someone had dropped on the ground. Maybe it was food?

An experimental nibble confirmed that it was at least not their food.

Maybe decorations were food?

Dani had a plate of brunch-like nibbles and a mimosa because if you thought there wasn't a small single-serve flute of champagne in her purse, you clearly had no idea who Dani even was.

She was enjoying watching the crowd. All the people chatting together, most people happy. The kind of parent/child interaction she'd never really had when she was at boarding school.
