Caritas- Wednesday

Kitty had expected Fandom's little event to flip sometime soon, but she had not expected that it would be today. So it just happened to be lucky that she and Tony had already planned this, in case people needed it.

And she was privately celebrating the hell out of the fact that this one missed her for once. This one never skipped her! Was it because she had a kid? ~~It actually was.~~ Did she have to keep having them to ensure she missed this one? She was good with the one she had but she'd considered it for maybe a whole three seconds!

Anyway, there was an all-ages game night party, set up in the back room, with posters stuck up around town earlier in the day to advertise and a sign on the door inviting people in. There were drinks and food and a Tino at the bar, and considering this week, the people of Fandom deserved some fun.

In case you showed up and wanted to get away but still kinda hear what's going on.

There are moddable snacks and you can get a drink from the bar. Say hi, figure out who everyone is, gripe, flirt with that hottie, etc.

You don't have to play to attend, but you should totally play.

FYI the only time I've ever played this was in the very post that inspired this game. I've also watched that one Community episode more than once.

And while I link that, might as well pimp its continuation in the best radio post ever.

Fjord's week so far had been... interesting, but at least he was in a place mentally now where he was relatively resigned to his fate.

And a place physically where he finally had shoes. He figured who he was would be fairly straightforward, what with being the only green person on the island with tusks, so he didn't seem too concerned about making sure people had him figured out before going to get himself a whole damn flight of whiskey.

Some days were whiskey days.

"D&D?" Yeah, go on, three guesses on who that derisive snort behind a glass of whiskey belonged to. "What a bunch of nerds."

And yet you were there, Rosa. You. Were. There.

Kitty had grown up as a comic-reading, game-playing nerd, but this was a blind spot for her. Her only experience with this was the last time they did this, during the Nothing when she'd been here like two weeks.

That had not been a standard game.

"Arrvhetyl the Awesome," she read. "Level five cleric and I'm Dragonborn. Okay, I like that part."

Kitty still looked like Kitty. She really was sorry (sort of).

But hey, she threw you a party in a day!

Amaya was a simple woman...who was temporarily a man....really. If she received a text from someone saying she should head on over to bar to check something out, well, then, she was probably going to head over to the bar to check something out. Though a bit warily, considering that the text had come from Diaz, and she could practically feel the barely restrained smirking through the phone. So she was there, looking a bit confused (and male), trying to figure out what the fuss was about.

"How's it going?" Kitty asked, because yeah, she knew who he was.

YES ROSA WAS.

"I really thought it'd be a week before it was the girls' turn," Kitty said.

"I'm starting to... maybe not get used to this, but at least start being able to navigate the world," Fjord replied, giving Kitty a polite nod. "It's been an adventure. Didn't have shoes that fit until today."

Thank goodness for that excellent constitution. Walking barefoot everywhere for three days on an island made mostly of cobbles and stairs was not a great time.

"And, uh, you?"

"I was hoping for at least a day more to prepare," Rosa grunted, and then shook her head, unabashed in her top-to-bottom look-over of Kitty right now. "Also, how is this," she gestured at Kitty's whole general KITTY-NESS, "fair?"

Leave it to Fjord to reach and take a character sheet at random, only to wind up with, "... Kuylynn the Malignant. Half-orc warlock, level three."

A beat.

"Really."

Really?

Kanan was, perhaps unsurprisingly, clad in an outfit that was uncannily similar to what he normally war. A trip to Demon Marcus on Monday had yielded a pair of tall boots with a heel he could walk in, some grey pants that actually fit his rather more shapely hips, and a green ribbed shirt.

Because look, the guy had a brand, here.

He also had a glass of Sprite, was contemplating the food, and had no damn clue what D&D even was, but he could definitely appreciate having a distraction today.

"I'm okay. Would like to note that this is the first time the island has ever skipped me and I knkw it's unfair, but at least there's a party?

She was glad he got shoes?

Tony totally had the DM screen all prepared and everything for this. You gave him one day and of course he had a full plan all ready in that time.

"Alright, so your characters are at a local sporting match. The game is a round ball that two opposing teams attempt to get through a small round hoop on either end of the field. The two teams playing are some of the best in the entire region, so it's a pretty great game."

It wasn't a tavern, but you couldn't always go with the time honored tropes.

"So, go ahead and meet your fellow characters."

"It's fair because Lexi currently really know who her dad is right now and if she didn't know me either it might be terrible," Kitty explained. "And I have done this multiple times."

Multiple!

"Suddenly, there is a shout as both of the teams playing stop what they're doing and a glow settles over them," Tony said. "And from the audience, a group of what had looked to be gnomes start growing and changing into this huge, monstrous forms, covered in hair and strangely wearing uniforms very similar to the teams that had just been playing."

"I'm not about to hold anybody missin' out on this against them," Fjord noted, smiling wryly. "Sounds like you've danced this dance enough, you've earned the out."

A beat.

"I'll confess I'm not completely certain what the party is about, though. Something about dragons?"

Fjord had not yet met an actual dragon. Someday the idea of it would appeal rather less.

Rey didn't really do parties much, and she had absolutely no idea what this game was, but she'd decided she would rather be around other people who were temporarily different instead of alone and focusing on how she was temporarily different.

And if she understood the concept of fruit baskets she would send one to Beau for convincing her to go shopping before this, since her normal clothes that fit her well would not have worked today.
