Caritas; Wednesday [01/08].
As much as she really, really, really missed her poor jello shop blown up to smithereens out in space, Summer would have to admit that being behind the bar at Caritas again wasn't too bad of a consolation prize. She liked it here, and she really appreciated the complete dread that washed over Tino's face when she came walzing back in, cheerful as ever, greeting him brightly and extolling how exciting it was going to be to be working together again!
And even with busting into a volcano and shooting up creepy toys to help free everyone from becoming lava-fried Fandomites, she made sure to make time to have a jello shot ready for tonight, too, because how could she really consider it her great comeback if there wasn't jello shots?
Hopefully, everyone will forgive her for making them a bit...thematic.
WEDNESDAY JELLO SHOT SPECIAL!!
Lava Flow
I'm back, bitches!
Come get your drink on!

And have a drink that wasn't a jello shot.

"Awwwww," said Summer, whose face went into a sardonically flattered expression, hands to her heart, when she saw who'd sidled on up to the bar. "And now it's like I never even left!"
Then she shook her head and snorted. "But, man, this place sure knows how to welcome a girl back, am I right? What're you getting, Seivarden? Something boring and predictable, I assume?"
no subject
She grinned.
"So how did your business go?"
no subject
"Oh, the business had been doing great," said Summer, as she poured Seivarden drink and set it down in front of her. "The war, on the other hand...."
Some of the sass slipped into a more genuine sigh. "Certain sacrifices had to be made."
no subject
Seivarden sipped her drink. She could see how that would be bad for business.
"It wasn't possible to relocate to some place where you would have soldiers to serve."
She knew that could be good for business.
Making a gesture with her hand, she added: "Not that I haven't missed you."
It wasn't true if you turned it into a joke, was it?

"Well," she said, "the whole point of that location was that there would be soldiers to serve. And government officials. And other important contributing factors. Only problem was, it almost worked too well, and when something's successful, it starts to gain attention, you know? So I knew I only had limited time, but I was going to get as much out of that place as I could while I could. And the whole time, they thought, 'what's the worst she could do? It's not like she's going to put everything she has on the line.' But that's because they clearly don't know Summer Smith. Ended up sweeping in, stealing a shit load of data and weapons and resources, and then distracted them by blowing the whole thing up. Ka-boom. Took out a good chunk of the city with it, too, while I was at it. I suspect they're going to be tending that wound for a while."
Her grin was sharp, but at least a little bittersweet.
"But, more importantly, I got the stuff I wanted to get out into the hands of people who needed them. So....you know. Worth it. I just gotta lay low for a little while since I'm, you know, kind of an intergalactic terrorist at the moment and everything."
Again.

"And good," she added, with a nod. "Glad to hear it. Honestly, I half expected it to be long dead by now."
She had ZERO faith in you, Seivarden. NOOOOOONE.
no subject
Another grin.
"What, did you think I'd let it die?"
It was too important for that.

"I value that plant."
no subject
"But I'm glad it's been working out for you," she added, a bit more seriously. "Has it helped, then? Things been a little better for you lately?"
no subject
She reached for the glass. "That plant helped."
Not just the plant, but including it, definitely.
no subject
Lest she forget.
no subject
That was just a guess.

She raised her glass in a toast before drinking.

It seemed to be the most logical solution, really.

She added: "Cut them to pieces with sharp tools."

"It is possible people have had enough lava by now," Rey pointed out, taking a seat.

Also, 'Healthy Coping Mechanisms' had always been a rare and elusive beast in the Smith household.
"Also, they're delicious and fun, so hopefully it'll help make it so lava isn't all completely terrible, you know? Would you like one, Rey? Or you think you'll just want water, as usual?"
Not gonna lie, it felt pretty good to say that, too. As usual.

So she got Rey and shot and a glass of water and set them both in front of her with no small amount of ceremony. It just felt good and familiar, dammit!
"So how're you doing?" she asked, leaning on the bar a little and maaaaybe setting herself up with her own shot, too. "After everything?"

"Thankfully," she added, "it looks like I'll probably be sticking around for a while this time around, though."
Unless she were to, like, just glomp onto Rey's whole thing or something. Which she might. Or she will. She was a glomper, that Summer.

Said the girl who'd been talked into getting a bed and had only recently upgraded to making tables.

"I do love to shop," she noted. "But, I mean, anything I earned out there went straight into the cause, and all my assets are blown right now so I might have to just deal with a minimalistic approach for a while. But with teaching and this job and Shunsui already wanting to hire me back as manager for the store, I don't think it'll be too long at all before I get there."
Plus, all of those things? Would keep her busy.
Because busy was good.
Busy meant less flailing and worrying about everything back out there.
