That one warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey was headed home for the weekend, and she was preparing by basically doing homework. She didn't feel like starting out with a remote on her own today, so instead she was sitting cross-legged on the floor next to the base of the obstacle course, very focused on the words she could make out. And if there was anything she didn't recognize, out came the little paper she was translating off of so she could figure it out.

This might be how she spent a lot of time these days but at least she was doing it in a different location.

"Good afternoon, Rey," Anakin said, smiling as he came in.

"Master Skywalker," she greeted him, closing the book. "How are you?"

[sith_happened]

"Very well," Anakin said. "We have most of the boxes unpacked. This weekend will be devoted to hanging things on walls."

[thatwaslucky]

"Sounds exciting," Rey said with a smile, like she had anything at all on her walls. "You've been busy."

Anakin grinned. "And then it will last all of a week and Rory will want to paint everything."

[thatwaslucky]

"That's good, though, right? You can make it your own," she said.

[sith_happened]

"You've never tried to paint with children underfoot," Anakin said, shaking his head ruefully. "Everything but the walls will be painted."

[thatwaslucky]

"Could you have someone watch them?" Rey asked.

[sith_happened]

"Nina did offer to babysit," Anakin said thoughtfully. "Hmm."

[thatwaslucky]

"The radio girl?"

Rey had met her once and knew the name really well.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "She's...enthusiastic."

[thatwaslucky]

"I know, I hear radio." And she at least used to be a subject of... romance novel writing on air? "I've only met her once, though."

[sith_happened]

"She means well, she just needs her energy properly channeled," Anakin said, "and not into the school's shuttle bus."

[thatwaslucky]

"I've heard a little about that," she said, sticking the book in her bag. "It probably makes the bus more interesting?"

[sith_happened]

"I don't want the bus to be interesting," Anakin complained.

[thatwaslucky]

"I suppose you could ask nicely..."

Lol sure.

Anakin snorted. "That is not going to work."

[thatwaslucky]

"I have no advice on this," she admitted. "This may be how the bus goes now."

[sith_happened]

"Well, Prompto, at least, graduates this semester," Anakin said. "Maybe Nina won't find more accomplices."

Yeah, right.

[thatwaslucky]

"And then you'll get some quiet, maybe."

She didn't really know these people, she wasn't very helpful.

Anakin laughed. "I don't know what to do with quiet," he admitted. "It's part of why I work here."

[thatwaslucky]

"Because even when it gets boring you know something dangerous or ridiculous is going to happen at any moment?" Rey said.

[sith_happened]

"Exactly," Anakin said. "One day we're bored, the next day we're colorful ponies. The day after that, we all pretend like we weren't colorful ponies."

[thatwaslucky]

"Why do you think we do that?" Rey asked, thinking of one conversation she'd had about whether or not that was actually normal.

[sith_happened]

"I honestly don't know," Anakin said. "Do you have any thoughts about it?"
