The Park, Monday Afternoon

Was there something in the air? Lucifer could almost taste it on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't put a name to it. It seemed to float in through his nose, in small enough quantities that it didn't affect his celestial biology - which meant he couldn't place it.

He'd just picked up a chocolate coffee drink at the Perk, but the oddness of it made him so curious he opted for a walk. Through the park, occasionally sniffing the air, occasionally sipping his drink.

"Strange," he said.

Loud sip.

"...Ugh, I'm out of coffee already?!"

Rey had been here long enough before to know what this was, and to know she just had to get through the week and it'd be over. What she had not counted on was the fact that before, she didn't pick this stuff up from everyone else on the island, too, and she didn't know how to block it all out.

She was going to hate this week.

So she'd gone to the park to work out some frustrations with her staff (not dirty), finding the spot where she used to practice all the time on Fridays, figuring that there'd be fewer people out here. She was also going to try very hard not to focus at all on any hot guys taking walks,

"Well, hello, practicing your phallic-'fu?" Lucifer called pleasantly.

"Rey hadn't expected that, and it was enough to get her to stop fir a moment.

"What?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Oh, don't stop on my account," Lucifer said, picking a nice bench to flop onto. "You looked very intense."

"I'm training," Rey said shortly, not starting up again yet.

"And what are you training for?" Lucifer asked, tossing his now-empty coffee at the waste bin.

"To hit people who annoy me."

To be fair, everyone was probably going to annoy her this week.

"You run across those very often?" said Lucifer, who had noticed that she was attractive, but frankly, he would have on any normal day.

"Enough to need to keep my skills up."

Maybe she should get back to it. Then she wouldn't actually be looking at him. Looking at people was not a good idea today.

"Have you considered there are easier ways to work off that much irritated energy?" Lucifer asked brightly.

"Like what," asked Rey, who didn't know who she was dealing with.

"Sex, obviously," Lucifer said, still grinning. "You can't tell me no one's interested."

"That's none of your business," she said, though she'd actually argue that no one was.

Actually no, she'd probably literally never say something like that out loud.

Seivarden had been through weeks like this before. And because she had some kind of pride she didn't send Lucifer a text until the afternoon, not wanting to sound too desperate.

She was desperate.

Are you planning any piano practice today?

Lucifer heard his phone go off and slid it out of his pocket to--

No, but it can be arranged...

Seivarden looked at the screen, considering her reply.

Would you like an audience?

Lucifer made an amused noise.

Why, I thought you wouldn't ask.

This felt entirely like getting a booty call and you know what, he was delighted.

Seivarden smirked. She knew what this week was like though, and since it was only afternoon, and she had at least known Lucifer for about a month or so, she added:

I won't mind if find more people who are interested to join the audience.

A moment later she added:

Lucifer chuckled. If you're angling for a quick trip to some clubs on the mainland to find some friends...

She hadn't thought about that possibility.

I wasn't but now that you mention it...

It would be less awkward next week.

It didn't strike Seivarden that bringing people to the island right now without a warning might not be quite fair.
