Caritas- Tuesday

This week was much different with a fifteen-month-old than it used to be, and yet Kitty would still rather be at home than here. There were Three Minute Date flyers all around, Tino had gotten here early and had left a book of dirty-named drinks on the bar to serve as a menu, and if you've never heard a suggestive song played by a zombie band, well, tonight was your night.

Though at the first chords of "Hot in Herre" Kitty looked at Tino and said, "Do it and you're fired."

He did not take off all his clothes. No matter how hot it got in herre.

Rosa had always taken a great deal of pride in her ability to have complete terrorized control over her body, and weeks like this really screwed that whole thing up. Sure, she knew it couldn't be helped, because some things were even stronger than years upon years of self-biological-intimidation, but it still kind of sucked.

Still, Rosa was also very stubborn, and she liked a good challenge, and so she, perhaps foolishly, decided she was still going to go into Caritas tonight for her usual Tuesday round of drinking.

She got to the bar, leaned into her usual spot, opened her mouth to say something while getting a good look at Kitty, closed her mouth, appeared to be reconsidering some things, and then just pushed off the bar again.

"Nope," she said, lifting her hands helplessly and ignoring that fact that someone already used this joke today but whatever, it had been planned for days now, it was still getting used! "I can't.

"Take it as a compliment!" she shouted as she turned to leave and head right back oout.

Safe to say that Yasha was on the irritable side today, though whether she'd be more or less irritated if she'd remembered Beau mentioning that this sort of thing had happened before, and therefore realized what exactly was happening, was up in the air.

The point was, there was a tall, very built woman in leather, her absurdly large sword across her back, stalking quietly into the bar and taking a seat.

And asking, very softly and half hidden behind her hair, "Can I get an ale? I don't care which as long as it's strong."

"I haven't been," replied Yasha, and if she'd noticed any kind of flirty tone she was resolutely trying to ignore it. She did look up for a moment, though. "I'm still new, you know? Still sort of easing into things."

... She had not intended that phrasing to be unfortunate, for the record.

"Yasha," she replied, with a quick glance up again, and a nod of thanks for the drink.

Speaking of which, she took a long swig from the glass and set it down, already about a third of the way gone.

"Someone I know —" Beauregard — "thinks it's better to just dive right into things, you know, but I'd rather get warmed up first."

Oh god why was she saying this and also this was ABSOLUTELY NOT TMI ABOUT ANYONE'S PROCLIVITIES NO MATTER HOW IT SOUNDED OKAY.

"That's true," Yasha conceded. "Or even the same person, depending on how they're feeling that day."

She picked her glass back up and drained about half of what was left, then picked one of the flyers up off the bar. "Does this ... itch go away after a while?"

Please say yes. She didn't want to just assume here.

"I think I would like to pretend it's not happening now," mumbled Yasha, who would very much have liked to take about 90% of the things her brain was coming up with right now and toss them into the ocean. She looked at her glass and sighed. "May as well ask for a refill now, I guess."

She was going to need it.

"Yes and no?" Yasha finished the first drink, pushed a $20 across the bar because she had no idea what drinks cost here, and sighed, propping her chin up on her hand. "It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has to put up with it, but at the same time I wouldn't wish it on anyone else."

By which she was specifically thinking about the combination of frustration and guilt that she was basically wallowing in at present, but the sentiment applied in general, too.

That one took Yasha a few seconds, but she snorted in something vaguely like amusement.

"Doesn't mean it can't be hard again later on. Or so I've heard."

You know, she'd really been trying to not go there and it happened anyway, so now it was her turn to put her face in her hands and sigh.

"... can I go the rest of this week without talking?"

It was a valid question, okay.

"Maybe I should just not leave my room for the rest of the week. That might be better."

Not like that, but who would believe that even if it was true, this week?

Valid reasons, obviously. For which Yasha would not blame her in the slightest.

"I wonder ... is it any better if you go off the island?"

Could she even do that, or would the Stormlord not be okay with it?

"Well, if you have better things to do ..."

Which Yasha was not thinking about. She wasn't. Really.

Yeah, see, that was the problem.

"That's kind of obvious though, isn't it?" Yasha maybe looked slightly pained as she asked that.

"That's true, I guess," Yasha conceded with a little shrug of her own. It would certainly be obvious to, say, Jester or Beau. Fjord, not so much.

She looked at her drink, picked it up, and downed the entire thing in one go.

"Keep --" Yasha let out a deep sigh of her own, into the empty glass. "Yeah."
