Turtle & Canary; Thursday [02/13]
So, Rosa actually really loved this week, so long as she didn't actually have to leave her apartment. Because her boyfriend was a superhuman with incredible healing powers, which meant that he could actually keep up with her. And it was great. She'd put in the rest of the week off to get out of her patrols, she emerged just barely to settle things for her class, and then it was back to it with no intention of leaving again unless absolutely necessary.
...which meant this was a terrible week to forget you were about to run out of dog food. In Rosa's defense, her mind was on other things. But she figured she could make a quick run to Turtle & Canary, pick up some dog food, maybe pick up a little extra food for herself and Tightpants, too, since, you know, they'd shouldn't sustain themselves on just take-out all week, and a few other things. Nothing big. Just a quick run. In, out, back to the good stuff.
And it would have been a solid plan, too, if Rosa hadn't gone and got a little distracted by the display of bottles of champagne, red wine, and rose marked half-off for Valentine's Day. A stupid thing to get distracted by, maybe, but she did love her some wine, and at that price....

She wasn't going to let poor Issa starve though, obviously.
Which was why she was hurrying through the store towards the pet food aisle, when she saw Rosa. Who was in her way.
"You're in the way."
no subject
God, maybe she should have just let the dog starve. Or feed it pizza. Dogs liked pizza, right?
"There's literally a dozen different aisles you could go down right now," she pointed out, glaring with a sharp gesture of her hand. "Just go around the long way, asshole."
Sure, she could have just moved out of the way, too, but also, she very much couldn't, it was the principle of the matter. She absolutely refused to move even an inch for this jerk.
And kind of hated the fact that she knew right now that the reason for this was not entirely just stubbornness, either.
no subject
As if she would!
She totally would, that was the problem.
"Yeah, and you can stop blocking this aisle while shopping for cheap wine."
She had no idea if it was cheap wine.
no subject
Which could have been solved by just grabbing her wine and going to check out, but, of course she wasn't going to do that.
"Mmm," she said, which came out less like the thoughtful hum she was going for, as something a bit more...well.... "Not sure I can. Might be a while. I just started looking. Wouldn't want to just grab the first one I see and get stuck with a bad one."
no subject
"Do you want my cat to starve?"
She knew that was a stupid comment, but it was the first thing that popped into her mind.
no subject
"Yes," Rosa all but hissed, narrowing her eyes at Seivarden with a particular visciousness and determined to stare right into her. And then sort of wished she hadn't decided to stare right into her, because now she was looking at her, and that...but she couldn't exactly just look away after that, either, so she was going to hold it steady and just try not to think about it.
It...wasn't really working.
"Besides," she added, instead of breaking, though saying something else did help relieve the tension of that moment slightly, "if she did, it would be your own damn fault, because, again, literally dozens of other aisles, you don't have to go this way."
no subject
She was looking back at her. Stubbornly. Not at all looking at her lips. Or the line of her neck. Or...
She snorted, looking away. "This is just stupid. Can't you just get over whatever grudge it is you're holding against me?"
no subject
no subject
Even Seivarden knew that was a lie, but that didn't stop her from attempting to get past Rosa, back against the wine shelf.
no subject
And for no other reason.
She was...pretty sure, anyway.
Whatever. She wasn't going to just let her sneak by. That'd be too easy.
no subject
"Do you really want to do this?"
no subject
Because this was clearly a very reasonable, adult way to deal with a situation like this.
no subject
"Push me into a shelf? I know I'm your most hated person on this island, but come on."
no subject
She was...also going to try not to think on that too much.
She was, however, going to snort. "Please," she said. "You're not even close."
Second place was totally close, but that was beside the point, because 'second place' didn't work nearly as well as a good taunt.
no subject
Her mind was straying towards the thought of Rosa overpowering her, and that didn't help with the current situation.

They were stuck, weren't they? Seivarden really shouldn't think about what it would feel like to take her gloves off.
no subject
But moving meant losing and Rosa couldn't just lose. And definitely not to Hot Leaf Water.
And that was it, there was nothing else, it was definitely all just a matter of pride and nothing else, dammit!
"Why should I?" she asked. "I was here first. You move."
no subject
She smelled nice. Seivarden remembered the way she smelled and the way her kisses tasted and...
"Are we going to be here all day?"
no subject
Look, there was no point in just denying a very obvious and well-known truth. It was like trying to deny gravity. Or electricity. Or that when two bodies were pressed together, however awkwardly, for an extended period of time, there were going to be...urges....
"And we'll be here just as long as it takes you to realize that I'm not moving," she may have pushed back a little harder there, "until you do."
no subject
She really tried to make that sound like a bad idea. It was a bad idea though, since having Rosa pushing herself against her was starting to get awkward.
no subject
And then, a second later, realized that, actually, no, she couldn't do this all day, she actually had something much, much, much better she could be doing, and was mildly horrified that she'd bothered to waste even this much time on it.
"God dammit," she muttered and, after a terrible moment where she had to pit winning this battle eventually against just going back to her apartment and continuing to have pretty much the best sex in her entire life, she moved.
Quickly. So that hopefully gravity and the sudden lack of Rosa to press up against would at the very least make Hot Leaf Water stumble a little.
"Good job," she said dryly, "you won. You can go get your stupid cat food now."
And she was going to need a few more than just the one bottle of wine, because she was thinking of just drinking one on the walk home now.
no subject
She snorted, gave Rosa a look, then headed towards the pet food section, trying to ignore that she could actually have spent a lot longer trapped between Rosa and a shelf.
Would it be wrong to text Lucifer? Or Amaya?
no subject
But she did hope that she couldn't feel the moment when that glare turned into something else entirely, because she did cut a fine (and familiar, at one point) figure as she did walk away.
Nope. Nope. Rosa was just going to look back to the bottles, grabbed two of the largest ones without even paying attention to what she got, and then turned to walk in the other direction toward the register.
no subject
"Seriously," he said at the till, probably not the first time, "How can you not be selling them right now?!"
Beat.
"Then order them in bulk. You know what this island gets up to, prepare for it!"
no subject
"Ugh," she turned her attention back to the wine, figuring she'd better pick something out quickly before it turned out that the whole town decided to go shopping today, but she was at least going to wait until Doughnuts over there was done if she could help it.
And she was looking at the wine bottle, but she was having a difficult time being able to tell anything about the wine...
no subject
She definitely had an attractive... wine look, yes. "If you're here for condoms, they don't have any," he called.
no subject
"Probably because I bought them out on Monday," she said.
Which she had not actually meant to say outloud, but it came out anyway.
Look, she knew exactly what kind of week she was going to be having, and Doughnuts better hurry it up at that register so that she could just pick a bottle and get back to it.
She was thinking this wine thing had been a horrible idea. Curse you, occasional frugality and love of cheap ass booze!
no subject
no subject
Which was incredibly counter-intuitive to getting Doughnuts to leave so she could leave, too.
no subject
(And, okay, he definitely checked her out in an unsubtle way. But it was the week for it, right?)
no subject
"Budget's no object," she said, because they were all half-off and she highly doubted there'd be anything on that shelf that she couldn't afford even at full price. "Top three picks. Go."
no subject
"Well, it's all supermarket wine," he noted, "But that chablis isn't half-bad for what it is, and that boxed red wine in the corner isn't terrible if you need large quantities of it for everyday drinking." A pause. "Ooh, and the Chateau Ste. Michelle, that's actually almost decent."
no subject
Well. She hadn't really been listening, that was the thing.
"But cool," she said, going for the suggestions, planning on grabbing all three at first, but then realizing that two bottles and a case of wine plus a bag of dog food was going to be a bit difficult to carry, so she was going for the box and the Chateau Ste. Michelle, "thanks."
no subject
Honest shame she was taken, really.
