Groovy Tunes; Tuesday [02/18].
Tisarwat may have joked with Lana about hangovers being Amaat's will as punishment for her debauchery last week, but this week, as the influence of whatever was in the air that had definitely gotten into her system abruptly faded, she was starting to wonder if there might not be some truth to that. Her body, which had never been good with sudden changes or shifts in atmosphere, was not taking the change between weeks very well at all. It was like a hormonal, emotional, and physical whiplash, a sort of withdrawl from the high that the pollen (and all those palms) had given her.
It made her glad that she didn't have any classes on Monday, but she still wasn't quite recovered today. Still, she was going to just cling to her tea and try to go about her day as normally as she could, cursing yet again the state of medical technology on this planet and her desire to not just lean on her friends who could heal too much.
And she was definitely cursing the stereo, too, which seemed to have a faulty volume knob, because whenever she turned it down, a few minutes later, it just seemed to steady get louder and louder anyway...

"Morning," she said as she entered. "What about some tea?"

So far, the aftermath was hitting Tisarwat far worse, but she smiled faintly when Breq came in. "I would love some more tea," she said, because, of course, it would always be more at that point, and she shifted a little straighter from where she'd been somewhat slouched over the counter. "Thank you. How are you, Breq?"

As it turned out, no one had actually explained to Tisarwat the more subtle details of what had been going on. Sure, there had been a few odd hints on radio about it, but she'd never actually managed to put two and two together on that one. Or in relation to how she'd been feeling these past few days.
She'd just thought it was a really, really good mood.

Breq had assumed it was quite obvious.

With a small groan, though whether it was from the inevitable weight of clarity or just the bad withdrawal symptoms she was experiencing was hard to tell. It was very likely a combination of both.
"Okay," she said, "that explains some things."
And it also felt extremely disappointing, that everything that had happened might have been an uncontrollable, pollen-induced fluke.

She also wondered how something like that would have even affected someone like Breq, if it affected her at all, but she obviously couldn't ask that.
"People," including herself, especially including herself, "just seemed much more...open and receptive last week, but I didn't really think anything of it. I just thought everyone was in a good mood."
Which, to be fair, they had been, albeit some significantly more than other.
"A pollen, though?" she asked. "Really? It must have gotten over the whole island..."
Meaning it was dawning on her slowly that she may have missed an absolutely incredible opportunity if she hadn't been so busy scandalizing all her classmates and reveling in their incivility...

"Children?" she asked, shaking her head. "I take it you mean not like the time everyone turned into children..."
