Caritas; Wednesday [06/17].
Summer knew she was going to regret it, but after a few hours of dealing with Tino being exceptionally mopey and sighing dramatically all around the bar, she finally caved in and asked him what was the matter. And, sure enough, the answer made her roll her eyes practically into another dimension.
"Oh, come on," she said. "You can't honestly be upset that I didn't invite you to my birthday party. You don't even like me, Tino. And I didn't invite Kitty. I didn't invite Apu. I didn't invite the cheese panda. Get over yourself."
Tino murmured a response that made Summer question if there was a limit on how many times a person could roll her eyes in a single night.
"You are not going to make plans for a better party with Apu," she said. "You and Apu aren't friends. Stop trying to push that narrative."
Which only led to more brooding and sulking and Summer shaking her head, because she really should have known better than to have asked.

"Is moping contagious?" she asked, then continued: "Appletini? That sounds better than usual."

Said someone who had spent the first year on the island moping.
"How are the birthday plans going?"
no subject
"Pretty good, actually." The skepticism morphed easily into a proud little smile. "I think we're pretty much all set. Kiiiind of the fence about inviting my friend Tricia from back home, but, I mean, I definitely don't hate her this week, so I'm sure it'll be fine, as long as she doesn't get all weird and gross about having the hots for my dad again."
Seriously, Tricia, what the fuck?

She downed the jello shot.
"Oh, and by the way, five breasted aliens?"
no subject
...not that she had experience with something like that or anything.
She shrugged, getting another shot to place in front of Seivarden. "It was the first thing to pop into my head, but there will be absolutely no shortage of weird shit out there. Something for everyone. That's kind of the whole point."
Even if she would prefer that things weren't so lame that people had to go find their own fun elsewhere, but...hey. Insurance, right?
no subject
There was no sarcasm there, she genuinely meant it. Even having to rescue Lucifer from five-breasted aliens might be fun.
no subject
She could keep an open mind about the choking, though, apparently.

"So," she prompted, "good week?"

She just couldn't help herself, okay? And it was so much safer poking at Seivarden about it than Amaya.
no subject
"It was one of those days," she said. "It's not like you take what's being reported seriously."
no subject
"Fair enough," she allowed. "I mean, it did say I objected to Steeeeve's shirtlessness enough to bring firearms into it, but, obviously, that is something that would never actuay happen..."

A beat.
"You're not about to run off and tell him that I have a crush on him now," she asked archly, "are you?"
no subject
She sipped her whisky.
no subject
"Also," she added, "after my birthday, it looks like I might have a good chance to swipe that portal gun of my grandpa's, so be ready for that. It really sucks that I have no idea how.to even begin guessing on what your dimension coordinate.codes might be..."

There was a thoughtful pause.
"I guess we can start by eliminating any and all universes that exist without tea...."
no subject
"I'd prefer to get back to the time I'm really from, not the time I left from. If that's at all possible."
no subject
Except that he DID have a box in the garage, but that wasn't the point.
no subject
"Wait no, that one wasn't in my universe. Then not the one where Amaya end up building spaceships."
Or the one with Etnys, but that one was better not mentioned.
no subject
But she couldn't help it if so many other versions of her suck!
"You could wind up like my grampa and brother, though, and wind up with one that's almost exactly the same as what you're used to, only you're already dead and no one notice yet so you just..." She made a gesture, a little whooshing sound, "slide right in there."
no subject
"This sounds really complicated," Seivarden observed.
Another sip.

She added: "I appreciate it though. I hope it's not just because you want to get rid of me."
A smirk, then another sip.
no subject
She definitely wasn't expressing any of that outloud, though.
"Believe me," she said, instead, "I wouldn't want to meet another version of yourself, either. One of you is more than enough."
no subject
Seivarden grinned, then made a gesture with her hand.
"Never mind. It's the best option I have."
Apart from staying here. Which, to be fair, by now wasn't that much worse than going back and being a thousand years out of time."
