Caritas; Wednesday [07/22].
It had sort of been turning out to be a quiet night again at Caritas, and so Tino decided to approach Summer about maybe getting her honest opinion on something, and she, brows lifted, reminded him that her 'honest opinion' on something means not holding back, and he explained that, yes, that was why he wanted her to look it over, because he knew she wasn't likely to hold back.
Still, he said that was why he wanted her to look at it, because he knew she wouldn't sugar-coat it, and so he handed her a stack of papers with a story scribbled haphazardly onto it, she looked mildly impressed by the sheer volume, and then, without much better to do, because to read.
She only made it a few paragraphs before she gushed, "Ohmygod, is this fanfiction?"
And it had barely gotten out of her mouth before Tino, already sulking and glowering at her, swiped it away protectively and went to brood at the other side of the bar.
"What?" Summer called to him, lifting her hands as if they were innocent of whatever transgression she was guilty of. "I didn't say it was a bad thing, come on!" He just shook his head at her and she grunted. "You're going to need a tougher skin that that if you want to get into the writing business, Tino! So much for my honest opinion!"
And then she was just going ot sulk a little bit, too, because there she went, opening her big mouth again just in time to ruin something fun, because, sure, she hadn't gotten far into it, but from what she could tell, it actually wasn't really that bad...

"No, wait, that would be worse."
no subject
She wasn't. Not really.
Or maybe...

Summer eyed Seivarden furiously for a moment, as if trying to decide if she could bring herself to actually do.what she was asking, and, yeah. No. She reached a conclusion that she was definitely not doing that.
She was pulling out her phone instead.
"Oh," she declared, "it won't hurt me at all. But I can think of a certain blacksmith who it might hurt when she finds out it's free shot night for anyone who's ever taught a class on Radchaai entertainments and the literal one other person on the island who fits that bill won't even have any with her..."
no subject
She totally would.

And, not long after she'd finished that statement, her phone pinged with a reply and she frowned as she read it.
"Although I guess, this time, you're actually right," she said. "She says thanks, but she can't come it tonight because she's sick."
The phone bleeped again. Summer looked.
"Apparently from bad meat-on-a-stick at the Shenanigans..."
Which was...odd, because Summer didn't recall seeing her there this week.
Another bloop.
"Also, she says to tell you not to worry about it, because she says she knows you're going to."
And then Summer fixed Seivarden with a look to determine whether Amaya had been right about that.

Seivarden pulled out her phone and sent Amaya a text too.
Are you ok?
Now she remembered that Amaya hadn't answered her previous text, which was a bit odd.
Then she looked at Summer, smirking.
"She knows me that well?"
no subject
"They're still free, though," she offered. "If that doesn't sway you."

"Sooooo," she prompted, figuring she'd either get reluctant praise or a decent complaint, "how is it?"

It's fine!! Just a touch under the weather, that's all!
And then, like an afterthought:
Didn't Summer tell you not to worry about it?

It was a gamble, Amaya figured, to act like she hadn't even gotten that last message, instead of just pretending like she'd meant to respond but got distrated by something, but she was going to go ahead and take that gamble.
no subject
I sent you a message.
no subject
At least it was much easier pretending not to know what Seivarden was talking about over text rather than face-to-face, because even Amaya knew that she wasn't exactly good at that.

Maybe the phones were messing up. It wouldn't be the first time.
Technically speaking, none of those were outright lies, cushioned nicely in an air of generalities...

There was a bit of a pause after that one, as Amaya tried to think of where to take this next. A part of her was thinking she should just give it up, because it was turning out to be an awful lot of trouble crafting all these excuses, but then she reminded herself of why she was doing it, and, well...
Maybe Saturday, then? I should be up to snuff
and ready with a new excuse...
by then

Saturday then :)

Then we have a plan!
Followed, a few moments later, as if she'd only just remembered:
:)

Rey also got friend freebies. Summer had no scruples, please.

It was a whole thing, her and pancakes, don't know if anyone noticed.
"You want anything else? Water? Dr. Pepper?"
no subject
Rey had not kept hers.

"I mean," she offered, "I'm sure I can manage that, too, if I really wanted. I don't think Anakin's exactly stingy about inflicting that crap on anyone."

Then she smirked a little. "Can you imagine," she said, "if he had, like, an extra little tiny one, so then I could have a pancake hat for Pancakes??"
Her Instagram would lose its collective shit!

Really show how little!

How Summer was going to get through this without even any scratches on her was truly a testament to her cat's impressive tolerance for bullshit.
