There had been pizza delivered to the bar. A lot of it.

Kitty wasn't sure why. She hadn't ordered it. Tino said he hadn't. The delivery person said it was already paid for and he couldn't take it back, so... apparently they had too many pizzas now?

"You do mean actual pizza and not pizza in a drink, right?"

There was spam and vodka in this bar last week, Kitty, this was a legitimate question.

"Absolutely not in a drink," Kitty said, immediately, making a face. "Regular pizza, please take some. My family cannot eat all this."

Lucky couldn't even eat all this.

Rosa was going to make a comment about their lack of ability to eat all this pizza clearly made them wusses, but then Rosa really saw how much pizza there was, and, well...

...that was fair.

"I'll do what I can," she said, instead, with a note of resolution and self-sacrifice, "and I guess I'll have beer tonight, because obviously that's what you've got to have with pizza."

"Coming right up," Kitty said, opening the boxes along the bar for her. "How are you doing this week?"

"Alright," said Rosa, with a faint shrug as her woefully neglected ass helped herself to a slice. "Finally moved, so there's that."

She chewed a little thoughtfully for a moment.

"Now I just have to come up with something to teach in the fall. You picking it back up?"

"Always. I haven't figured out what, though," Kitty said. "Any thoughts?"

"I'll probably just do Badass Bitches again," Rosa admitted, "assuming the moose doesn't try to saddle me with something dumb like ballet again. And then there's the heist..."

"It's not Halloween without that," Kitty agreed.

"You could always teach a class on sweet superhero fashion," Rosa then offered, because you just couldn't let some things die.

"Every week they could try on a new outfit and code name," Kitty said lightly.

"How many weeks," Rosa wondered, "before they get completely sick of it?"

There was a thoughtful pause.

"Could be an interesting collaboration, though," she added. "Your little superheroes trying to foist my little heisters...

"Wait," her face quickly turned mildly mortified, "did I just refer to students as my little anything?"

Noooooo.

"You did," Kitty grinned.

"And that could be a fun spin on things. Might have to go more superhero than just fashion."

You know, Criminal Justice but serious.

"Gross," said Rosa. About the teacherness that seemed to inevitably creeping up on her, not a possible collaboration.

"Superheroes does seem like it could be weirdly relevant around here, too."

"I did something that touched on some of it," Kitty said thoughtfully. "It'd be pretty easy to expand on it. And a collaboration means a couple weeks of classes are taken care of."

"Yeah," Rosa agreed, "the weeks leading up the the heist are definitely the easiest. It's like mental copy and paste."

Plus, that was when they dealt with the fun stuff of questionable legality! And now that she wasn't a cop anymore, she didn't even have to feel weird about it!

...not that she had in the first place. Not the point.

"I'm in if you are," she decided.

"I'm definitely in." Rosa even grinned a little. "Now to decide whether I tell my students that yours will be trying to stop them or not."

Although, really, that wasn't much of a question at all.

"I know it'd be more authentic for my students if you didn't," Kitty said, pouring some rum for The squirrels.

"..."

Jesse had just stepped inside, but now she had to kind of... stop for a moment.

"I thought the pizza place was somewhere else."

Try to sound a little less alarmed, Jess.

"It is, but our delivery here is either the best or worst thing ever. And I didn't even order it," Kitty sighed, and gestured. "Please, take an entire pizza."

"I mean, I'm not going to turn down free pizza," Jesse allowed, sinking into a seat. "I have been pretty hungry..."

[throughaphase]

"Go for it," Kitty said, even sliding over a plate. "What can I get you to drink to go with it?"

"Just a generic beer, please."

Maybe ordering tap water would be safer, next time.

"And here I was just stopping by to say hi."

[throughaphase]

"You never know what you're gonna get around here," Kitty grinned, getting her beer and setting it down. "How've you been?"

"Fine, so far," Jesse said, pulling her beer towards herself. "I have an apartment, which is nice, and the island hasn't gotten overrun by angry dragons in my first few weeks."

She took a sip of beer.

"I think that means I'm ahead...?"

"It means you're doing pretty amazing so far," Kitty said. "Though I'm not sure I'd actually mind angry dragons."

She had an in.

"Don't tell me, you know how to talk to dragons," Jesse said wryly.

[throughaphase]

"That's actually a complicated answer, because I have a space dragon that I can talk to, but he would have to go to bat for us with other dragons."

Totes normal.

"Does the space dragon have a name?" Jesse asked.

She hadn't blinked at that answer, no.

[throughaphase]

"Lockheed," Kitty said proudly. "He's fantastic."

He'd even stopped threatening Clint.

"He's not actually related to the airplane company, right?" Just checking.

[throughaphase]

"No, just named after them." She shrugged. "I was thirteen."

"Sorry," Jesse said wryly. "Just... never hurts to check."

Smooth.

"How'd you wind up with a dragon at thirteen?"

[throughaphase]

"Remember how I told you Home was weird?"

This needed that reminder.

"Sure," said Jesse.

I'm not so sure everyone's home isn't weird. Some people just fail to notice.

[throughaphase]

"So he saved my life while I was in outer space and dealing with some evil aliens who were trying to murder us by infecting us with embryos that were going to take over our bodies and infect others, and then when we escaped he stowed away with us and became my pet," Kitty said. "Though he wasn't actually but I didn't know about that till years later."

"He wasn't actually your pet?" Jesse prompted.

[throughaphase]

"He was actually an agent for a secret government agency," Kitty said.

Jesse tilted her head. Thought about it. Set her mouth in a straight line, and said, "Any one I might have heard of?"

"Not in this universe," Kitty answered.

She'd checked.

"Why do I feel like this is something else I need to start making a list of?" Jesse wondered.

[throughaphase]

"A list of dragons or agencies?" Kitty asked.

[weirderthanthou]

"Both?" Jesse said. "I don't know which ones are going to be more relevant." A beat. "It's my first time being a mayor of anywhere."

[throughaphase]

"You'll pick it up," Kitty assured her. "But I can say dragons and agencies should at least be pretty low priority. For the majority of the time there's nothing more to worry about than lemonade coming out of your shower head."

"Think it might help if we build some kind of emergency shower reservoir?" Jesse said. "Or is that overkill?"

"I think if you did that it'd fill with lemonade, too," Kitty told her.
