So, a weekend here translated to over a month back home once again before they were yanked right on back to this damn island.

And Danny would have very much preferred to recover from everything with his kid and very lovely girlfriend who lives in Hawaii by his side. But nooo. That couldn't happen for him.

Though Steve did make breakfast for a change. Which had been nice too. Up until Danny remembered that none of the meds that had been prescribed to him back at Queen's came with them. So, he had to drag himself out to deal with some stairs in order to get new ones from the clinic here. You know, to not keel over from some terrible infection or something.

Honestly, his life.

"What, so you think your universe is part of the 1%? 'Cause I gotta say, buddy, that doesn't seem real likely."

"Never knew there were evangelizing Buddhists out there," he drawled.

"Excuse me?" Duke paused his walk to give Danny a Look for that one. "I'm not evangelizing anything. I'm not even talking about Buddhism. Buddha doesn't give a shit about multiple universes." As far as he knew. "I'm talking . . . basic metaphysics."

"Uh huh," Danny said with a yawn. "Well, it's an interesting theory, I guess."

"It is," Duke agreed. "Why, you got another one?"

"No," he said with a little shrug and shake of his head. "Metaphysics aren't my thing. People tend to be, though."

"Fair enough," Duke said, adjusting his grip a little. Just a few more sets of stairs, and they'd be there. "Tell me about people, then."

"People? People want reasons for things to be the way they are," he said, sweat beading on his forehead maybe a little he he climbed. If he leaned a little more heavily on Duke, pay no mind to it. "Easier that way, right?"
