Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty had been a little wary of what Tino would have done to the place today, since last week had seen Christmas lights going up. To her surprise there was no tree yet.

There were however stockings hung up across the bottles behind the bar, one for each person who worked there.

"This part is really early," Kitty admitted, and had to lift up the string holding them up in order to get to one of the bottles.

"I'll take a glass of whatever's behind one of those stockings to annoy you into admitting decorating for Christmas in November is stupid," Rosa decided as she slumped into her usual spot.

"The names are a cute tough, though."

"To be fair, I did not put them up," Kitty said, lifting the string to reach for a bottle. "Limoncello?"

"Sure." Not exactly her top choice, but she did say whatever was behind a stocking, and Rosa would hold to that. "Why not?"

"Coming right up," Kitty said, pouring it into a glass and setting it in front of her. "So how are you doing?"

"Well, I'm not a small horse right now," Rosa said, "so that's a plus. You?"

"Also not a small horse," Kitty said. "I do miss the wings a little."

"You had wings?"

Rosa, you were handwavily a unicorn, you had no room to talk.

"And a horn. I was my kid's favorite," she said.

"I'd hope you're usually your kid's favorite," Rosa pointed out. Sorry, Clint. "I had a horn, too. And a knife on my butt."

At least it wasn't a freakin' badge...

"The tattoo, right? Not a literal knife?"

Had to check.

"The tattoo," Rosa confirmed. "Although a literal knife would have made things way more interesting."

"Might've helped balance out the cute factor," Kitty mused.

"There was nothing cute about any of that," said Rosa, in stubborn defiance of the fact that there was kind of everything cute about all of it.

"We were all ridiculously adorable," Kitty said. "We couldn't help it."

Rosa scowled a little in discomfort. "That made it even worse."

Ugh, who would even want--

Well.

"Maybe not for you," she allowed magnanimously. "But come on."

She shouldn't need to tell you that she didn't do cute, Kitty.

"I know, I know. Fandom enjoys screwing with us," she said, sympathetic.

"At least it's probably good for business," Rosa allowed.

"Maybe not tonight," she added, with a faint (honestly grateful) glance around the bar, "but it's still early."

Not that she'd complain if it stayed like that, but she was always happy (okay, let's not get too ahead of ourselves, let's just say willing) to have to ignore more people if Kitty was benefiting.

"I don't have the busy night, it's okay," Kitty said. "I might do another event soon."

"They do tend to do well," Rosa allowed, a bit chagrined, knowing that she'd still probably be there, too, because, ugh, friendship. "Anything particular in mind?"

"Been a while since we did the name-your-own-drink thing," Kitty said.

"Plenty of newer people around to brand themselves with terrible combinations, too."

Hers excluded, of course, the Diaz was a classic.

"Exactly. And maybe with free drinks on the table, people will come in more."

Which had actually worked out pretty well, since most of the people who did show up later got something other than their drink.
