Caritas- Saturday

Jaye was still a couple years off from tending bar. Or dating a bartender. But Caritas was the place that didn't card, so of course she'd wander over here on a Saturday night.

Tino was still his normal age, which had Jaye asking, "When and why did you get so old?" which meant he just set down a beer in front of her and kept to the other side of the bar.

So fine, Jaye was going to sit here with her beer, and maybe go through her phone to see who she could dial up after a few more of these.

"Just me or are there a lot of unfamiliar faces this week?" Anakin asked, sitting down next to her. "And did Tino get really old?"

"It might be a convention weekend," Jaye said. "TeenCon, or something."

"So they're all in bands or something?" Anakin made a face. "Horrifying."

"Bands?" she repeated.

"Teen bands," Anakin said, nodding. "Otherwise, what? They're on tours like Rory's doing for colleges?"

"Maybe," she said. "Wouldnt shock me if that's how they trick people into coming now."

"Well, they certainly aren't going to bring people in telling them that they'll get voluntold into a Christmas pageant," Anakin sulked.

"Behoooooold: what your academic life amounts to now!"

She should have done jazz hands, really.

Anakin did them for her. Sarcastically.

"Just for that, you're getting a shot," Jaye told him.

That always went well.

Anakin grinned. "That sounds like a bad idea."

In the best way!

"Bring it on, Old Tino," Jaye said, and a moment later he set down two shots for them, despite that.

Tino deserved slightly better, it was true.

"Is this vodka?" Anakin asked, tilting his head and pretending like he knew what he was about to drink.

"Not for long," Jaye said, downing the shot.

"Good point," Anakin said, tossing his back too.

"Ugh," Jaye said, setting down the empty glass.

And then said, "One more?"

This was how you got hangovers, Jaye.

"Maybe two."

What amazing decision-making skills they had!

"This is going to end in phone calls to Rory."

No. But seriously. Poor Rory's voicemail.

"Probably," Anakin said, laughing. "She'll love it."

Probably not, no.

There was a drink at this bar with her name. Not even one of her fake names that she usual gave people. Her actual name.

Of course Rosa was going to have a million of them, especially when she apparently didn't even need to whip out her fake ID. There wasn't a whole lot to do in this town, but this was making up for it nicely.

"Nice hair," Jaye said.

Actually sort of sincerely! She was just used to seeing it on Zero.

Rosa took a moment to sort of size up the other girl before responding. But she was hanging out at this weird little bar, too, so she couldn't be too bad. She took a sip of her drink.

"Thanks," she said. "I just got it done."

She'd done it herself, and her parents and instructors were still shitting bricks about it, so it was hard to not be proud about it.

"Maybe I should do something like that. It'd be a good way for me to get disowned."

Which was half of a goal!

Enough of a goal...a worthy goal, at that!...to get a smirk out of Rosa.

"What color would you do?"

And then, a beat later, "You want help?"

Because apparently Rosa just needed to dye people's hair whenever she turned out to be fifteen around here...

"Oh, I probably wouldn't. I'm literally too lazy for upkeep and too vain to let it go," she said. "It's a whole thing."

"...apparently," said Rosa, quirking a brow and thinking that was way too much of a thing for hair.

"So, like," she then speculated, "not even a streak? Come on. Live a little."

"What do I get out of it?"

Besides a streak.

Sit!

Make bad decisions with darts!

I'm helping with a move in a bit but we totally need a teen night at the bar, right?
