There was a polar bear handing out Cokes in the lounge and random things at the bar had been wrapped. Kitty was pretty sure that'd just been Tino being funny but it was much less cute when she had to unwrap shakers and shot glasses before she could use them.

Maybe Kitty could get him to confess.

You know, when this all started, Rosa was definitely feeling it would be a whiskey-and-Coke kind of night at the bar, but by the time she actually got into the bar to get her Tuesday night drink on, she was already way over it.

"Seven and seven," she ordered, out of sheer defiance at this point.

"I almost had a special on Coke drinks and thought better of it," Kitty admitted, turning to find a glass that wasn't wrapped.

Even with all the holiday stuff that had already been going on at Caritas lately, Rosa now noticed all the wrapped things and immediately gave Tino an unimpressed look, because, yeah, he would do that, wouldn't he?

"Yeah," she agreed. "You forget how quickly that shit gets old..."

Which, admittedly, for Rosa, was much quicker than most people, but still! She actually had been open to the idea at first!

"At least the bears are cute?"

Ugh. Now she had to unwrap a bottle.

"Because cute always gets far with me," Rosa pointed out.

But mostly because it was better than admitting she agreed with that sentiment, too. They were stinkin' adorable.

"Lexi tried to hug one today."

How far did that get, huh?

"Tried?" Rosa asked, with a particular wariness for just how cute this might actually get.

"She's little, so she really just kind of latched onto its leg like a koala."

And the bottle was unwrapped now!

There was a slight intake of a breath, a steeling of resolve.

"Pictures?" Rose ventured, with caution.

Kitty stopped what she was doing to get out her phone and pull up a picture to show Rosa.

And sure enough, there was a polar bear, smiling with a Coke, while Lexi hugged its leg and looked like she was having the time of her life.

Dammit. That was pretty much the epitome of cute. It was definitely almost cute enough to get Rosa to crack.

Almost.

She was kind of struggling, though, which is why she knew she had to at least admit, "Okay. You and your cute dumb kid win this round, Kitty."

"Thank you," she grinned, finishing the drink to slide it over. "So how are you doing?"

"Really looking forward to December," said Rosa, with a shake of her head and a tone that said she was definitely not looking forward to December, and now that she had her drink, her first sip was a good indication of that, too.

"You?"

Besides, you know, banking in on that slowly developing ultimate weakness of Rosa's with that cute dumb kid.

"Haven't turned into anything in a bit, so I'm good," Kitty said. "Maybe I'll go to a party I'm not throwing. Coming up with my next class."

As I realize I forgot class yesterday...
