There was a tastefully-decorated tree in the lounge today, but Kitty had put that up herself and she knew how it got there. It seemed like a perfectly normal day here at the bar.

At least until the shipment of top hats came in.

"Well," she decided, "I guess that settles the theme for the New Year's party."

"Nothing too weird today?" Rosa asked, settling in at her usual spot and looking around.

She didn't quite trust it. Nit she wasn't about to complain, either.

"We have a tree Abd fancy hats," Kitty said. "Are those too weird?"

"That doesn't even touch on weird around here," said Rosa. Or even, you know, normal places. "...I like it."

"Glad to hear it," Kitty grinned. "Want a hat?"

Rosa looked at Kitty with an expression that wondered when, in all their time knowing each other, she'd ever given off the idea that she would be a a hat person.

Hats were almost worse than soup, birthdays, and presents, Kitty.

"No hat," she said. "But I'll have a beer."

"I'm just saying, I might be basing a party off these hats," Kitty said, getting the beer anyway.

Rosa was starring to feel like might need that beer to help get through this conversation.

"A party," shevrepeated, to make sure she had the facts in order here, "based on...hats..."

"Maybe a fancy dress New Year's," she explained.

"Fancy dress, I can do," Rosa said, becausecsje did actually love killing it in a dress. "I'm still skipping the hat, though."

"Totally fine. I won't even make you wear a different stupid hat," Kitty promised.

"All hats are stupid, Kitty," Rosa informed her, because this was very important information that not nearly enough people seemed to understand.

"Baseball caps," Kitty argued.

"Only at baseball games," said Rosa. "And even then, that's pushing it. Although I will accept that they can be good for stake-outs and disguises..."

She almost suggested that maybe she'd wear one to Kitty's fancy dress New Years, but Kitty would actually hold her to that.

She would.

"Also for bad hair days."

"I don't have bad hair days."

Well, except that one time, with the perm, but that perm saved lives and was more like a bad hair month.

"Of course not, your hair is amazing. But I do," Kitty pointed out. "Baseball caps and ponytails are godsends."
