Seivarden had followed Summer's advice to watch YouTube videos in order to learn how to mix drinks, so she now had one more on her repertoire. Tino gave her an unimpressed look.

"At least I serve people drinks, unlike some of my colleagues."

This wasn't a criticism of Cait, Seivarden actually thought it was a smart move.

Gin & Tonic
Bottled beer

Perhaps she would eventually remove the bottled beer from the list, but it was such an easy job to serve them. Any draft beers would be from Tino, unless the customer liked foam.

Normally, with all the snow and the murder candy, Summer might have stayed in once she was finished with her day at Turtle & Canary, but since Caritas literally was just across the street from her place and she went easy on Seivarden by skipping her first week, she was just going to pop in and see how she was doing.

"Oooooh," she said, still finding it somewhat novel to be sitting at the bar instead of standing behind it sometimes. "Margarita me up! Let's see what you've got!"

If it ends up bad I'm going to blame that YouTube video," Seivarden said, and reached for a glass.

It would take some time, but it turned out she had learnt to make a decent margarita.

"How are you? Crushed any candy canes today?"

"Yeah, right," Summer scoffed, rolling her eyes hard into a smirk at that first part, "definitely the YouTuber's fault....

"And I'm okay. Spent most of the day in the store pulling out all of our winter stock, though, so I was mostly able to avoid the candy canes except for going in and coming back, but it wasn't anything a shovel couldn't handle, y'know? Still, this is a new one, I think, so I like the ingenuity. How about you?"

Seivarden grinned.

"I did some target practice, on my way to the gym and back."

"I didn't even think of something like target practice!" Summer admitted, looking a little forlorn about that fact, but, let's face it, practice wasn't really something she thought about when it came to fighting, she was one of those annoyingly naturally gifted shots. "That's a good idea. Good targets. Small. Fast-moving. Lots of snow cover....you get a lot of them?"

"Well, I've done a lot of practice recently."

With Breq demanding everyone was better than up to standard.

"I brought a decent gun too."

She placed the margarita in front of Summer.

"Here. I can take an honest review."

"Doubt that," Summer replied dryly withba snerk, before picking up the drink and making an overly big deal out of inspecting it, swirling it, considering it and sniffing it until taking a small tentative sip.

More consideration. A thoughtful second sip. A hum of ponderance.

"You know what?" she finally concluded. "It doesn't completely suck. That YouTuber did a good job."

Seivarden snorted.

"You're doubting my talents in mixing drinks."

"Guess you'll just have to prove me wrong, or something," Summer said, with a nonchalant shrignof her shoulder and a smug sip of her drink.

"My cocktails might be an acquired taste," Seivarden said. "At least I make them myself."

"Have you actually seen what the Summer Smith is on the special drinks menu?" Summer asked. "Because that sounds like a challenge."

"I accept the challenge," Seivarden said, reaching for the menu. Reading it, she frowned.

"Summer, this sounds..." like something someone not allowed to order drinks would order" ..."not quite what I expected."

Yeah. She was, like, eighteen when she created it. And it showed.

"Make me one!" Summer grinned, with a swig of her margarita. "It'll be good practice!"

Literally no one but Summer herself ever ordered that drink.

Seivarden looked at the menu again.

"Should I just improvise the proportions?"

Oh, no.

This could very likely go one of two very opposite ways.

Summer considered what she might have on her agenda tomorrow.

"Yes," she decided, with confidence.

So Summer got equal parts vodka and red bull, generously covered with glitter, in the red cup. Seivarden placed it in front of her.

"Don't drink all of it at once, and let me know if you want to top up with something."

After that first tentitve sip, Summer realized that there probably was no correct proportions to this drink; no matter which way you poured it, it was all wrong.

"Well," she said, lifting the cup in a toast the her bartender before taking another drink before switching back to the margarita, "I'll just say I'm glad tomorrow's one of my chill days."

And she might tkae a week or so to sort of detox, because it was only the fourteenth and she had been kind of hitting it hard this month...oof.

"So less vodka next time," Seivarden concluded. "Are you sure you don't want some kind of fruit juice in it?"

It wouldn't make it less alcoholic, of course, but it seemed like that kind of drink.

"Or is that an insult? No, wait, sparkling wine."

Avoid the bar and and the stage and find a comfy place in the lounge.

I'd like another day of sleeping.
