Sure, sure, sure. Tomorrow was definitely going to be the big day around here for New Years, but since Summer was planning on being wholly dedicated to celebrating, she was going to take today as sort of a New Years Eve Eve and do some thematic jello shots, because she could, and, honestly, she would have imagined everyone would have been shocked if she didn't, meanwhile doing everything she could to encourage Tino that he was doing a great job doing what needed to get done for tomorrow, and, really, if she were to help, she'd probably just get in his way.

Look, she was just better sticking to behind the bar, anyway, it was just a fact.

"You're sticking to the champagne theme, I see," Seivarden said, leaning against the bar. "I did mimosa specials."

She had showed up with Breq this time, clearly happy to have her come along.

"At least until after New Years," Summer explained, "which is tomorrow, so who knows what waits for everyone next year! And mimosas are good!"

And also, like, super easy, Seivarden, Summer hoped you didn't manage to somehow mess those up, and she'd be asking Tino all about it now.

"I'm not sure," Seivarden said. "Any suggestions. And yes, New Years. We might come to the party."

"You should come to the party," she pointed out, "especially as a bartender here, now. Support your bar!" Summer always did! And with gusto! "And I think...you should get some martinis down. Or a nice classic old fashioned."

"It's good to see you again, Summer," Breq greeted her, finding a place by the bar next to Seivarden. "It's been a long time for me, but not for you, I know."

"Hey, Breq," Summer greeted her with a smile back, then a thoughtful tilt of her head. Because, sure, she knew really! that there had been some weird time stuff going on back in the Radch after she'd sent both Breq and Seivarden through, but it definitely didn't seem like it might have been the same for both of them just then. "How long, exactly?"

"Twenty years," Breq said. "I hadn't thought much about the time differences until I found Seivarden a few months after she had returned."

She looked at the menu.

"So, your famous jello shots. Any recommendations?"

"Hello, Iris." Breq gave her half a smile, deliberate as always but nowadays it looked as if it came naturally. "I enjoyed it. She said it was a favourite of yours."

She gave it five more days before she'd start aching for something weird again.

"We've got a nice combination of a lull between something Really Big happening and the start of a new semester," Summer agreed, getting for Jesse the generic beer du jour, "and I have to say, I really appreciate the timing this year, because I feel it really lent itself to being able to let us actually appreciate a normal Christmas and, presumably, a normal New Years Eve, although I guess we'll find out tomorrow how true that might be. I'm really looking forward to it, though, so, not gonna lie, I might be a little pissed if it goes all wonky."

"I like to have at least one for the brave and dubiously sane," Summer said with a grin. And also just to hear people complain about the third one, but that detail was usually left unsaid. "You want to try the other two, though? I love using champagne in the shots, and it is the season..."

"Yeah, alright," she allowed. "Those do sound good."

Somehow Stark was not entirely over being around people after yesterday's shopping excursion and so was at Caritas today as per usual.

He gave the specials board a disapproving look as he sat down but smiled a hello to Summer after sitting down.

"Should I try both champagne ones?" He was fairly sure Summer would say yes but maybe she preferred one.

Oh, she was never going to get sick of those disapproving looks toward the specials board, was she? Summer beamed over the fact that she was pretty sure Stark already knew the answer to his own question at this point, as well.

"Yes," she said, firmly, confidently, and proved it by getting him the two champagne shots right off the bat. "I do like the strawberry one better, because, well, duh, strawberries, but they're both good and I think you'll like them."
